Beautiful course, friendly staff, great pace of play near historical downtown Dahlonega Ga
Excellent Day
A friend came up from Florida and we played on a cool Saturday morning.
He really liked the way the course started everyone with a shot gun start.
It was a great way to start and the pace of play was great for so many groups that day.
Excellent course conditions and warmed up after a few holes.
First, but not Last, Time Playing This Course
This was my 1st time playing this course. It was a beautiful fall day. A bit windy, but it was really a great day to hit em. Didn't hit them great (89), but the course, the staff, the cart lady, the other golfers in the group, were all just awesome! I was really curious about the shotgun start, as this wasn't a tournament, but it really worked out well and the pace of play was excellent. I hope I see other opportunities to play this nice, scenic course.
Worth the Drive
Been playing this course for years when it was known as Birch River. Scenic setting tucked in the mountains but fairly flat in a valley and lacking in elevation changes so can be walked. Good layout but could use a set of intermediate tees between blues at 6,400 yards and whites at under 6,000. Challenging but fun. Worth the drive north from Atlanta.

The fall views and great course conditions were great.
The staff and amenities are excellent.
Played longer than the listed yardages.

Great course in North GA!!
I played this course because it has been on the Golf Advisor Best of GA list in 2015 and 2016. It is a very good course with wide landing areas and moderately quick greens that rolled true. It is a mountain course but is mostly flat with the Birch River winding through. Btw, this course was previously the Nicklaus Club at Birch River. I played the blue tees, 6400 yds, and a few holes were long for me. But there are other holes that are short with some risk/reward shots. I played on a Thursday and there was a cart girl available. I didn't eat at the grill. The staff was friendly and range balls were included. The bunkers had very fine sand but could use a little work as could the pond on number 3. Btw, I came within 2 and half feet of an ace! See the pic.
