Golfer Reviews
Great riverside layout
Great Nicklaus design. Most courses in our area have a lot of elevation change, but not here being along side of the Chestatee River.
Greens were not very fast. Fairways were great.
Change of pace
Thie course was in great shape and different than other courses nearby. Relatively flat with wide open fairways, which allows you to open things up; but bombers beware, the risk reward is staying in the fairways. The rough, although not too deep, will certainly add a stroke to your score. Placement of traps in just the right places and covering some water made it a challenge within itself. I will be back
Beautiful day in Dahlonega, Ga.
First time I had played the course in almost 20 years. It has matured wonderfully and is a great Nicklaus design. Easily a walkable course if you’re into that. I’d say it’s a shot makers course more than a big boomers course. Fairways are fair but there are plenty of traps, water, and challenging carries to navigate.
Fun day on the Achasta course
Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Roughs were too high...several balls were not found after spending too long looking. The average golfer won't be able to advance the ball other to pitch out. While I accept that hitting into the rough should result in a reasonable penalty, US Open conditions shouldn't be the norm. A ball hit a couple of feet in the rough shouldn't result in either a lost ball or an impossible shot.
I really enjoy the course I every other way.. A great layout.
Great experience
This was my first time playing here and it definitely will not be my last. The layout is challenging and very different the. courses closer to Atlanta. Surprisingly much flatter then courses south of here. Fairways are wide and not stacked on top of one another. Very well maintained and picturesque. Amenities were top notch and also well maintained. Club house was great, with pictures of Nicklaus in the walls. Would highly recommend for a trip outside the city norm.
Just okay
Had high hopes going into this course, while the range was nice, and the layout was challenging. The course was not in great shape. The greens were not as nice as other courses in the area, there was not a beverage cart, and the pace of play was slow.
I just expected more for the green fee here.
I might play here again, but with other courses in the area being cheaper and just as nice, it will be a tough sell.
Excellent course
Beautiful course, lush and green, ravines and creeks create difficulties, well designed. Typical Nicholas type course.
Perfect Course
Very pretty, well designed, very green, not too difficult but was a challenge. Staff friendly, nice facilities. Not many houses on the course, some hills but no mountains, good elevation changes.
Beautiful
Lush, green, beautiful course, nice design, well maintained, not too difficult, lots of creeks, ravines, some ponds/lakes, lots of strategically placed traps, relatively level, no mountains, very few houses on the course, very nice private development. Nice country clubhouse and facilities, nice employees. Lots of crepe Myrtle’s, red buds, and Japanese Maples. Enough difficult holes to make the course a challenge.
Great Golf Course
I enjoyed great Golf course over there with very friendly staffs!
Golfing for two
Played 18 holes with my wife, her second ever round and we played best ball. The course was in great shape, greens putted well. The driving range and putting green were in great shape. We will definitely be back to play again.
Beauty
Played this course due to the high ratings and wasn’t let down. The course was in incredible shape. Multiple bridge crossings, several holes to carry water. You won’t be disappointed.
Great bang for your buck!
I'm a 6 handicap and shot 78. I paid $71 after taxes on a GolfNow hot deal.
Tee boxes:8.5/10
Very solid. No complaints. Could maybe be a 9.
Fairways: 9.3/10
Superb condition. Almost zero bare spots. They were not dried out and could take proper divots. Very lush.
Greens(bent):7.6/10
Very slow. With how little rain we have had it seems they have over watered them. It's a fine line and they crossed it. Theywere too soft but with the bent and it being 95 all day it's tough for them to maintain. I'm very picky on greens so take this rating with a grain of salt.
Bunkers:6.8/10
Very rocky. Had liner coming up on a lot of them. But deep thick sand which I like.
Rough: 9/10
The rough was in superb condition. Around the greens and fairway was all really nice. It's super thick as well and helps with keep the course challenging.
Pace of play 10/10
Played in 4 hours. Could have played faster.
Value:10/10
For $71 bucks what a deal. Would have paid $110 and not been upset.
Overall: 8.8/10
This is a great course to bomb it around with driver. Had some great risk reward par 5s with your second shot 210-240 in over water that are drivable in 2. I drive it around 265-275 on AVG. Has some tough par 3s to small greens. The par 4s are a great mix of 300-330 and then 400-440 from the Blue tees. 6408 yards.
