About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Under new management. Greens are great but fairways are coming in a little slow. Will be 5 star condition soon.

I really like the course layout and I have no issues with the course or the staff. Help me out people! When you play golf and others are waiting ( all weekends and most afternoons) DO NOT hit more than one ball from the same location! You do not get10 mulligans per hole! I was behind a group today that would just keep hitting ball after ball until they found a shot they were happy with. Yes, they were high handicappers. Also any time they were around the trees, they scoured for lost balls for five or so minutes. Mean while each tee is three deep waiting on them. What was strange was after they took their three or four putt mulligans. They would look up and run off the green like they suddenly realized people were waiting. I only lasted nine holes. I waited on the 10th for 15 mins while they used the whit tees as an impromptu driving range session.
Could be a really nice course
Some of the tee boxes need attention, along with a few fairways. Other than that, the course is pretty good for the price.
Greens roll great!!
The course was in good shape. A few thin lies but it’s to be expected this time of year. The greens are in excellent shape and roll true. Pace of play was good as well.
VERY SLOW PACE
I’ve played this course at least 4 times previously. They have really been putting in an effort to make improvements on the course. It’s normally an affordable option as well. They unfortunately don’t have a driving range to warm up. Some of the cart paths are badly damaged as well, but for the cost I could live with this. The bad news is that they have been overbooking and we had to wait at every hole 5-10 minutes which is very frustrating. We had other groups behind us waiting and they were frustrated as well. Overbooking tee times and not spacing each time out properly really ruined the day. Not sure that I’ll come back here again unless they fix the overbooking.
