Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Review
Played 2 1/2 weeks ago before today, the course conditions seemed worse today than they were then. Course really needs a marshall to keep players on pace. Many holes where it was a 15-20 minute wait to tee off.
Course getting worse
It’s hard to complain when I only paid $18 to play 18 holes as a hot deal but I would be much more unhappy if I paid anything more. Over the years the course has slowly but surely declined. The greens are in fine shape but most of the fairways have lots of dead spots and you have to move your ball every time unless you want to play out of divots and mud. No driving range, just some nets to hit into. Nice course layout and some tough holes. The course has potential to be great if they put some money into a driving range and fairways. Worth it for the hot deal prices, probably not the best bang for your buck otherwise in my opinion.
Course Condition
About 1/3rd of the 18 holes are in terrible shape!!! While most all of the greens were pretty good, the condition of at least 6 of the fairways was terrible, sand and red dirt everywhere and I'm not talking about bunkers either, simply no grass in the fairways. Several holes with broken sprinkler heads with water seeping out on the fairways causing major drainage and a general mess to try and navigate through.
What was strange is that about 12 of the holes were just fine.
I think Golf Now or at least the Pro Shop should mention the current playing condition of the course so that people can make an informed decision before finding out once you are on the course.
I have played this course many times several years ago and was looking forward to playing it again but this was a different place that I had played before. Too bad...
Fairways are covered in weeds. When your ball lands in the fairway it’s like you are hitting next shot from a divot. Worst fairways I have played in sometime. Will not play again.
The course has great potential
There was a lot of work being done on the course a lot of sand had been applied to some fare ways which was need but over all it was good
Bear creek
My son wanted to play golf for his birthday, so I booked a tee time at Bear Creek. The staff there were top notch handling everything from our tee time to cart rentals and course layout. We will definitely be back soon. It's a beautiful course that is well maintained. We can't wait to return to play another round.
Greens roll very well
Bear creek is a good course. Greens roll true and are smooth. Not hard and not too soft; can make of break your round. Be sure to get some swings in before the business picks around the course
