Challenging Executive course
Many different TeeOffs where Gold was about the double distance of ladies.
From Gold the par four and most of the par threes were as long as a challenging full course (several 400 yds par 4).
Palms
Course was in good shape. Nice club house/bar. Some of the holes are positioned very close to each other. While approaching some holes you are in direct line with the the group ahead teeing off. Stay alert. Greens were good but fast with substantial break. Back nine shorter than front.
Save your money or play another course. The fairways at The Palms at Forest Lake are like concrete, the T boxes are beat up, many of the ball washes are broken, and the greens are mediocre. It took 2 of us 5 hours to play this executive course. Course was overbooked and jammed. The only redeeming value was that the employees were very pleasant.
Snow Bird Jerry
Fun time...have not golfed since 2016...golfer was a bit rusty and wild....course being new and narrow with lots of opportunities to get into trouble...made this an interesting and challenging outing...particularly the back 9. Will play this one again....fun time with wife and friend.
Poorly managed
Any course that allows for pros teaching on each hole lacks respect for paying customers. Never again will we go there.
Disappointed
When we arrived, we were told to see the starter, who might start us on the back nine because of a big group on the front. Got to the starter's stand and he'd left for the day. Went to the back nine, and there was a significant slow down by the group ahead. By hole twelve we saw this was not going to improve, so went around them. Did not help. Began to notice the danger at a few holes where the fairways of one hole were adjacent to the tee boxes on the next. Parking lot and cart paths were crushed shells and sand. Would not want to play here when it had recently rained. Though inexpensive, probably won't play here again.
Disorganized
Staff disorganized. Greens good but fairways in rough shape. Bare in many spots.
Enjoyable Sarasota Short Course
This course was a little less challenging than I would have liked. It's not very long, and although there are some water hazards to deal with, it is very easy to manage for an intermediate golfer like me. The front 9 is a good layout but the back 9 is mostly par 3s. The fairways were good and the greens were in excellent condition. I wound up playing with some regulars there and that was very enjoyable. The round took about 3 hours which was great. The clubhouse isn't plush but is very functional with a very nice bar, patio and modest pro shop. I will probably play there again.
Safety
Only reason why I wouldn't recommend this course to a friend is the nearness of the next tee to last greens was a little scary. Especially on the back....
Review of Palms Golf Course.
We played the Palms G C twice this week. The course was in good shape. It has several water hazards near most holes. We enjoyed our golf and would return.
Nice facilities
We played there 3 times. The 3rd time was very slow. It took 4 hoirs for the round, the previous 2 rounds were completed in 3 hours. Course could use a ranger. Other than that the course was very enjoyable, loved the aqua range. The staff was very very courteous.
