Short game
Many par 3's, if you are looking for target golf and short iron work this is a great spot. Narrow landing areas and decent greens.
Awful experience
My wife and I quit after 4 holes. I can't understand how this had 3.5 stars when I booked it. We were 4 twosomes waiting or playing on three of the four holes we played. Most of them were beginners. I rarely complain publicly about things but the experience was unacceptable. Even the hot dog was overcooked. Save your money.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Pace of play was very SLOW. Shortage of carts. I would not play this course again. At 4 stars, it is grossly overrated.
This course was the worst course I have played through Golf Now t box right next to greens where people could get hurt. T boxes next to high traffic where we actually Hurd slamming of brakes I try to play at least 4 stars and this course was not even a 2 star
Thank you for your review of our Golf Course. We apologize for your poor experience at our course. As we are a new course to the market we appreciate feedback from our guest's on how to improve our facility. Please contact Sven Nelson, General Manager at snelson@palmsatforestlakes.com. I would like the opportunity to listen more to your comments and hopefully get you back out to play. All The Best.
No cash
Interesting and odd that the course does not accept cash. That's worth knowing going in.
It was a beautiful day so the course was packed when we arrived for a 1230 tee time. As a result there was a shortage of carts and we had a short wait
Good value for your money.
Easy does it. Would recommend it to my friends. Will play this course again.
Only Used the Range
I only used the range and it is fantastic. I am new to the area so I've been looking for somewhere close to work on my short game. The aquatic range is perfect for this. The max distance seems to be roughly 200 yards. With the wind today it was perfect for a 5 iron or less. The also have a nice size green to work on chips and bunker play. I think I have found my new practice location!
Good value for your money, BUT
I played this course, knowing it was much shorter than your regular golf course,, but I wanted a lot of practice with my irons and I did accomplish that. Overall, it was a very good value for what I paid ($28), plus they included a light lunch before my round. The staff was also very friendly. My only criticism is that the course is rated to high at 4 stars. Compared to other courses I've played in Sarasota, it should be either a 3.0 or 3.5 stars. Although the greens were as good as any I've played in Sarasota, the fairways and rough areas were very average. Also many of the water retention areas were dry and unsightly..
Good for couples
The front nine and back nine are totally different. The back nine is mostly par 3's. The green were in great shape and fairways mostly good except in areas of heavy cart traffic. I think it would be an ideal course for couples.
Still developing
This course appears to be quite new, and the facilities are still being developed. It was in decent condition, but not a real exciting course to play - quite a few short par 3s. It was not a bad course for a beginner, or a tune-up if you need to work on the short game.
Greens are beautiful
Nice and challenging course. Greens are great and so is the staff.
This is a 9 hole course
The front 9 is challenging and rather narrow. It's a par 35 so it's a legit 9 hole course. The back 9 is smushed together with the tee boxes on top of adjoining greens. I'm told the course was recently reopened - so that explains its current condition. If you want to play 9 holes - go for it. You will use all your clubs in the bag considering that the back 9'is truly an executive course.
great course to practice your game
It's a good course to really learn how to hit your iron's. fairways are surrounded by houses that force you to play smart. Its a nice executive course. The Back nine are almost all par 3's except for one par 4 (I think) I haven't played it in awhile.
The driving range is not long enough to swing a driver and you're required to use green mats and not use the ground. My golf game would be ok if I could take that little green mat on the course with me.
The staff is extremely friendly and makes you feel welcome.
good local course
The layout of the holes is uneven, with some holes being fairly interesting, but others being barely more than a pitch shot. The front 9 plays like a typical course whereas the back 9 is like a business par 3. The day I played, the course was quite dry. The greens were fairly fast but otherwise exceptional. The driving range was great fun, with floating greens in a lake. The splashes give very helpful feedback about distance and direction. It's definitely worth trying at least once, because of the very reasonable cost and proximity to downtown Sarasota. Staff very friendly and low key. The office quite simple but very nice.
Thank you so much for playing the course. We truly are happy you enjoyed the course and greens. One of our options here at The Palms you can play the front nine twice if you would like. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Thank you

Greens and fairways were excellent.
Played this course many years ago when it was a Par 72.
Little disappointed with the back nine and the par 64 but was fun to play with our wife's. I play at country clubs and must say the, THE GREENS ARE GREAT...! Fast and fun to putt on.
Friendliest staff I ever met!
Absolutely the best golf staff I ever met! You can tell that they love what they do. From bringing the cart to your car and helping load your bags to huge smiles and great advice. I don't live in the area, but if I did this would be my new home course!
GRRREAT course
Course was in GRRREAT shape, greens fast and true.
