course is fun to play
This course has 2 different 9s. front nine is open and fairly easy back 9 is tight and has more trees.
Good course.
A course with the first nine holes playing quite easy and the last nine holes a bit tricky when playing the first time not knowing the distances.
this course has some very interesting holes
I play there often because it is a great course for the price. and when the grass is not dormant it is a very beautiful looking golf course.
Brown fairways???
First time I've ever seen brown fairways and green slopes and rough areas. Needs major work to look better.
Dead of winter...bermuda fairways dormant.
This course has many interesting holes. The back nine is very scenic and more interesting to play than the front nine. It is a good value @ $25 per player in the dead of winter even if the bermuda fairways are dormant and the greens need some attention. The carts are ready to be replaced. Ours limped in from 17 and we had to push it into the barn. Friendly staff and I'll play it again when the weather warms up and the grass comes back.
Needs work.
The condition of the course and the golf carts need attention.
The course requires use of every club in the bag.
Very good challenge. Played from the back tees. Woods Valley requires lenght off the tees and the ability to work the ball. Greens were firm and fast. I did not have my best day but enjoyed the challenge.
Overall a great value
The fairways were sparse in some areas and required that you trap the ball. The greens were in good condition and rolled true. The pace of play was quite slow due to 2 tournaments (>5 hours). Woods Valley is a very reasonable value considering that it's in the middle of nowhere and has a fun layout.
Nov/Dec great time to play.
Weather is perfect in Nov/Dec. Course in good condition especially the greens. Some parts of the fairways in "ground under repair" like condition (e.g. #6). Overall fairways are in good condition. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Good value ... really good value using internet discounts
Longest round of our lives!!!
The course was in good shape. Pretty tight fairways so pretty challenging course. The starter was a good guy, but the Rangers on the course didn't know how to do their job. The 2 groups in front of us caused us to wait at every hole. There was a huge gap ahead of them. I mentioned it to them a few times. Nothing was done. 2 in our group were high handicappers but they know to keep up. Nice course but I will not go back for that almost 6 hours of aggravation.
Fun course; good value for the money
Two entirely different nines in a fine setting. Golf carts need some TLC but course is generally ok, particularly for the price.
beautiful views/good conditions...worth the drive!!
played this course on monday nov 12th(holiday),10:22 tee time, started around 10:40.seemed like the first hole was our longest wait to play, after that things moved pretty well/fairways are in good condition(going a little brown)but plenty of grass, greens were in good condition and rolled well except for the 10th(spots of dying grass and browning) bunkers have the best sand in the county!!the lake on hole #5 was completely dry and the creek that runs through the ninth and eighteenth was dry...figure that when we get some rain those features will be back.the front nine is a good challange but the back nine is a must play and must see.the 11 th green is one of the hardest in the county and the tee shot on the 15th is one of the largest elevation drops to the fairway.five hour round but well worth the drive out...no gps but course is marked with 200 and 150 poles in fairways and yardage on sprinkler heads.large putting green and matted driving range...only a few homes on the course, only a few back to back fairways(front nine)this one course where you can get away and just be with nature.
Great course at the twilight rate.. just dont book when they are hosting a tourney...
Great course - but they really need to build a GREAT clubhouse, They didnt even have Hot Dogs in the late afternoon because 1 person left. Course if fun overall - greens are firm and true like they should be. The greens were a little beat up, but they havent done their winter green work yet...
For a $34 dollar twilight rate starting @ 11AM on a Saturday/Sunday (during daylight savings time) its worth it for sure!
Great Value
Very nice course especially for the price on Tuesdays. Essentially had the course to myself in the afternoon. Nice contrast between the front and back nine. Greens need a bit of work but not bad considering hot, dry summer. Will play there again next week.
Eat before you play!
They told us it would be slow when we checked in. It took 2:45 for 9 holes! There was NO snack bar (or restaurant) and the cart girl didn't find us once in 9 holes. Pre-made sandwiches from a refrigerator in the Pro shop doesn't make the grade! They put us out following a small shot-gun tournament. The three-some in front of us was a full hole behind after 4 holes and was not "spoken to" by a marshal during the front nine.
To be fair, I've had better days on this course. . .but this wasn't one of them.
Tight course with a lot of out of bounds in play on both sides of the fairways. Requires the ability to shape shots.
I enjoy this course a lot. Tests your ability to drive accurately and to shape shots.
Challenging but fair
We played the course on a weekday so the pave of play was excellent. The pro shop and marshals were all very friendly and helpful and the weekday rate can't be beat.
Course conditions were a bit uneven - mostly good but some rough places. Greens have healed from punching - but some are in need of more work.
We'll go back and expect to enjoy it again.
Frustration
Waited 10-15 minutes on every tee playing behind a junior girls tournament. We went out at 1:45 and got to the 16th tee at 6:30 in the dark and picked up. Making it even worse...overseeded wet fairways and NO Discount!
Good greens, nice back nine.
The greens were in great shape, maybe the best greens I've played in the north county this year. Not crazy about the front nine, but the back nine holes are very nice, with interesting hole layouts and plenty of trees. The pond on the front nine - can't remember which hole, but it's close to Valley Parkway - is dry and a bit of an eyesore. They should fill it up as it is right there next to a major road. Not a good way to display your golf course to all those passing cars.
Poor shape
Course was in poor shape, several greens had patched areas, pretty rough shape overall. They were overseeding the tees & letting the fairways grow longer to help them survive this winter so part of the problem is they are trying to prepare the course for winter. This is not the first time I've played the course and maintenance is really inconsistent. Pay a couple of bucks more and play Pala Mesa or Cross Creek.
