awful experience with staff
I have played here in the past on numerous occasions without issue. I live some 50 minutes away from the course and so you can see that I go out of my way to actually play there but today will be the last time due to the snafu caused by the course. I booked the last slot of an early morning tee time. when I arrived at the course I was told that the other three members of the foursome had checked in. however when I got to the first tee, the starter had no idea where they were or if they went off already even though I was ten minutes early for my tee time. the starter assured me that I would not have to play as a singleton behind numerous foursomes already on the course but then a few minutes later told me to tee off. he sent another marshall to figure out what had occurred but then I never had the courtesy of even seeing another marshall on the course to explain what had occurred. I caught up to the foursome in front of me and they explained that had booked the time I had as a foursome. I then waited and waited for the remainder of my round without the courtesy of any further word from the golf shop or marshall.
I then went into the golf shop and was told that they had a computer snafu on their part but not even a simple apology for the inconvenience of having to play on a Saturday morning behind groups of foursomes as a singleton. I will no longer spend my hard earned money on a course where they screw up the tee sheet, create an inconvenience for the customer, allow a customer to have a rather unpleasant experience waiting an eternity on every shot and then not even offer an apology or something even close to it. there are plenty of courses around where I can spend my money. not here.
Great value, well maintained course
We play Keith Hills a couple of times a year. It's a really good layout and always in good shape and a super value. The kids in the PGA program at Campbell University work in the pro shop and carts and also contribute to course maintenance. They are excellent and it's great to see young people who are looking forward to a career in the golf business. If you can, play it, you won't be sorry.
Great
Great course and great time.
Not what I Expected
I must say after reading reviews I was looking forward to playing here, but unfortunately I was not impressed. In all fairness the greens were in excellent shape, but tee boxes were awful, which isn't too important, but the fairways were so so. The big problem was the course was not very interesting and very bland with an over abundance of right doglegs which won't suit good right handed golfers. We played the Orange and Black nines and the Orange was maybe a bit better, but not much. For the price though it is a very good deal, but you get what you pay for which is a very average course in average to poor shape.
Great Day
Enjoyed this course very much. Some hills, some water, some bunkers. Not cookie cutter holes everywhere. We would definitely play this course again.
This is a very nice layout!
Course is just awakening from a pretty good winter so the greens were a little slow and fairways a little rough in places! But always a very nice layout. A fun round of golf!
Great Value
Best course around for the money.
Keith Hills
Played Orange to Black since White has greens being aerated. Not crowded at all. Played in 3 hours 20 minutes without really pushing it.
great greens
Course was good considering fairways dormnant. The greens were smooth and fast.
Keith Hills Country Club
First round I played in five weeks (hand injury) so it was great to get out and play a course that I am familar with and that I really like. In spite of the fact that the course was wet due to recent rains it was in very good shape as always. I also like the variety of three separate 9 hole courses (orange, black and white) although the white nine, my favorite, is seldom available.. All in all a great experience. It is Campbell University's home course and located only a couple of miles from campus.
Old school hidden gem
I have lived in Raleigh for twenty years and have always heard bad things about this place. Found a good deal and thought I would try it out for something different. As soon as we pulled in I was blown away by the beauty of the place. Practice facility is the best around. I'm a two handicap played the tips and thoroughly enjoyed it. Played black/orange. Great layout excellent greens. In fact I just booked a tee time for Friday. Old school hidden gem!!!
This Course is an "Old School" gem
After three straight days of rain, course was still in very good condition. Greens were perfect and rough was challenging.
Layout challenges you to be able to turn the ball both ways. The Black 9 has it's own "Amen Corner" with challenging par 3, 4 and 5. Enjoyed the round and the course condition.
Lots of Character
A very enjoyable course with lots of character without being overly difficult. The greens are immaculate
Great shape!!!
The course was in amazing condition yesterday. Fairways were lush. Rough was thick and the greens were smooth and fast. The few bunkers I found the sand was in great shape . Played and presented itself well.
Keith Hills
Nice course, well laid out. Good course to try out. Drove about 1 hr to get there, but worth the drive.
play nine holes twice
I was confused that white and orange courses. There was a tournament so we had to play white twice which I don't like it. I prefer black and orange better.I miss 18 tow courses. Some greens need work.
GOOD LAYOUT. WORTH THE RIDE
Of the 27 holes, I played the Black, and then the White. The black is everything a chapionship course should be , with fast greens and very tough rough. The White, although the layout is nice, was like playing a different course. It requires accurate tee shots to stay out of trouble, but the greens on the White were very spotty and slow. All in all, a good day .
Tough but fair
The fairways were nice with 4 in. bermuda rough. Most of the greens were guarded with bunkers. The greens were really smooth and somewhat fast and the ball rolled smooth. I played the Orange and the Black.
Keith Hills Orange->Black
This course is used by Campbell University. It is always in good condition. The Orange course is a moderately difficult course and quite fun for amatures (of which I am one). I didn't play particularly well but I had a great time. The greens were extremely fast and if you didn't get spin or land your approach soft, there was a good chance to skip off the back. Putting at first was difficult due to the speed but I would rather have hard fast greens than soft spongy greens anytime. Fairways were in excellent condition and the rough was slightly high where unless you had Tiger Wood's fans out in front pointing out your landing spot, you could wind up in trouble quick trying to find your ball. It was best to keep the ball in the fairways. I have played this course a number of times in various weather and conditions. It is always fun. We played the Black as our back nine. This is a much more narrow course with encroaching tree lines, doglegs and some serious bunkers to contend with. My brother calls me the "sandman". There are challenges for everyone who plays from young to old, good and not so good. If you can't have fun here you don't like golf. I would recommend this course Orange, White or Black to anyone who plays. Dennis Snyder
