The Chimneys Golf Course
About
The Chimneys Golf Course features 18 holes of exceptional golf. Our signature feature is the abundance of native rock found on-site, intricately hand-laid throughout the course to accent our greens, fairways, and pedestal tees. With strict attention to detail and no homes in sight, the course plays as a par 72, just shy of 6500 yards over five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Combined with southern, hometown charm, The Chimneys is an experience unlike any public course in north Georgia.

Geens need work
The greens were still long and sparse and still sandy from the aeration; I can understand that, but what I don't like is when the greens are in that condition the pin placement should be at the most forgiving and easy part of the green...typically right in the middle. I look forward to playing there again after this rain and a good cut on the greens. The two former Navy men I was teamed up with were great to play with; especially since it turned out we all had the same skill level. Semper Fi.
Good layout, picturesque
When the grass comes in this will be a fun course with a couple of challenging holes. Three of the greens are driveable which provides something to shoot for. Can't beat the scenery.
Took my dad out to play on a perfect weather day. Golfnow stuck two other players with us but they were cool and we all had a good time. Course was in great shape with the exception of the grass around the greens, very matted down and tight making chipping a challenge. This will improve once the grass greens up. Play this course often and it never disappoints.
too many cart path only holes
Very scenic course, greens were ok but a little slow. On the front side there were too many cart path only holes and we witnessed no wetness problems. Staff was fine
Great Course
Another great Course in Georgia to play. The city of Winder has taken over the course and looks like they have invested well in it. The day was cold and windy, no fault of the course. We arrived early and were allowed to start early, though there was no one else there at the time due to weather, the desk clerk did insinuate because we had gotten the "hot Deal" from GolfNow that he could make us wait until our tee time. I understood that if there had been lots of play this particular day but no one was there. I have dealt with enough courses thru golfnow bookings that I know this, but when there are only 2 cars in the parking lot and they belong to the desk clerk and one worker, give me the keys to a cart and save me the speech. Other than that the course was in great shape, fast greens in great shape, running 10 to 11. There are many low areas around all the greens that hold water, (rain the night before) so getting to the green was essential on the approach. We were cart path only but the course is laid out great so no problem with that. This will definitely be a beautiful course when spring and summer finally get here to stay, worth the play, usually on Golfnow at a great rate. Will play again when the time comes.
Enjoyed It
First time playing this course and I was impressed. The course is not very long but has a wonderful set of greens to challenge golfers of any skill. There was a nice blend of easy holes and hard holes to give the course a challenge. The weather was not great the day I played here and it was cart path only but the course was still in good shape. I look forward to playing here again the spring/summer when the weather is better.
Interesting asthetics make it fun too
Enjoyed playing a very aesthetically appealing course with a nice friendly wide open layout for wayward shots. Don't get too relaxed because challenges do sneak up on you. Spring grass will shorten shots soon
My only thought is greens were a bit fast on stimpmeter for this amateur but that's my issue.
Good layout
I have played this course 2 times in the last month with exceptional weather conditions. Most grass is dormant but I can see the potential for it to be very green come spring. Not real difficult but nice layout with decent greens..Do not understand need for handicapped carts they offer some seniors that permit them to drive in area's others cant.
Fun course
Always a good course to play . Very fair for the average golfer with several "challenging" holes to add to your score. I'm 68 and a so-so player but find the white tees offer a fair test, even though I'm not a long driver of the ball. The staff has done an excellent job over the years to keep improving it.
fair course
no water coolers and only 2 water fountains with one not working!
I see water coolers have been disappearing to preference of bottled water in recent years. Seems more sanitary to use another source as well.
Return visit
The weather conditions were overcast and 40 degrees when we started which encouraged a fast pace of play. The course was in good condition overall and the greens were smooth and putted at a medium speed. We did not get held up by another group and were able to complete our round in 3 hours.
Nice, Affordable Course
I've played this course a handful of times. The course is usually in good condition; other golfers are usually friendly; and the rounds are enjoyable. The round I played on 11/20/16 wasn't any different - except for the cool/breezy weather. The greens on 11/20 were very fast and in decent shape. I would, however, say that this course is below average in terms of green care by other players - tons of ball marks on the otherwise excellent greens (a shame). If you are going to travel to the course, I would call ahead to ask about green conditions, as I've seen wide-ranging condtions over the past few years.
they are making it possible for some older AND younger to enjoy golf even though they may have some infirmities or limitations dues to health or maybe even by being wounded by military participation or accident! Kudos!
