The Chimneys Golf Course
About
The Chimneys Golf Course features 18 holes of exceptional golf. Our signature feature is the abundance of native rock found on-site, intricately hand-laid throughout the course to accent our greens, fairways, and pedestal tees. With strict attention to detail and no homes in sight, the course plays as a par 72, just shy of 6500 yards over five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Combined with southern, hometown charm, The Chimneys is an experience unlike any public course in north Georgia.

Suprised by course conditions
Have played this course many times before and have always been very pleased by conditions of the course, this time very suprised. All of the sand traps were in ruins, they had filled with water and had been left to bake dry, the side walls on many were falling down and they were completely unplayable. The greens were fair at best and with the fans running and conditions it was obvious they were trying to save them. Most of the rest of the course was ok, just needed to be cut, not sure if this was a weather issue, not being able to run the mowers or what. This course to me has always been a hidden gem and the course conditions suprised me. Not saying I won't go back but I hope when I do it is back to what I remember, a hidden gem and a great course rather than just an average course.
Great condition
Course was in great shape. Used golf now rate, which was great. Finished 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours.
Undiscovered Gem
This course was referred to me by a few pros and was a real treat to play. Staff and started were very friendly and let me start ahead of my scheduled time. An excellent course for high handicappers as there are wide fairways and very achievable distances for greens. The fairways and greens were in absolutely pristine condition. Pace of play for a Saturday was excellent. What is an extra bonus is the unique landscaping and actual chimneys located around the course. What look to be local rocks accent many of the tees and bunkers. A bit of a drive from Duluth but well worth the effort.
Great golf course
This is a great course. Long par 5's , challenging par 4's and birdie making par 3's. It provides both challenging and stroke saving holes. Tee boxes are in great shape, fairways are in great shape and the greens are awesome. Hard to believe this course is owned by the City of Winder. I have adopted this as my home course. Definitely going back.
Great Golf Outing
Had a beautiful practice round on Sunday. Needed to practice and was able to get around course quickly as a single. Expect the 100 heat turned off many players, but course was in great shape. Excellent value great layout without any homes on the course.
Love this course
I love the chimneys! It's a great layout and kind of difficult. But it's my favorite course around. The course is in excellent condition, one of the few courses that still has bent grass greens and they're in great shape. Defiantly go play this course
Pretty good bang for your buck
Well, let me start by saying that playing this course in the afternoon of Georgia heat is unbearable. It complete trashed my game. That being said, the course has access to water throughout the course. Not just coolers, fountains to fill your bottles. That was outstanding.
Front nine is more challenging than the back. Tight fairways and doglegs make drives challenging. There are a few holes on the front nine that are cart path only. Sort of slows the pace of the game up and seems unnecessary at times. The greens were a bit slow but full and fairly well maintained. Decent driving range to get you started. Gas powered golf carts make things a bit noisy but not too bad.
The staff was great, especially the girl behind the counter. Very polite.
Well worth the money!
First time playing this course & was impressed. Requires shot placement and course management. Course was in great shape. Beautiful scenery & layout. Friendly staff, too. Look forward to playing it again.
The Chimneys Winder Ga.
Enjoyed the course so much I am thinking of a membership, great value for the money.

Great course at a great rate
The Chimney's is a great course at a great rate.
Great Views From Almost Every Tee Box
Even though the course had just been "punched & sanded," we had a great time on this very playable course. 76 (White Tees) is my best round since the 90s, and the views from the T Boxes just inspired me to that score. The use of natural rocks & boulders to shape and frame some of the teeing areas was impressive. You will use every club in your bag, but 220 yard drives will leave you with short irons on most par 4s. I did have two par 4s where I was still 190 plus out. I am a 13 HC and definitely will play this course again. Single digit HC golfers should play from the (Tips) back tees.
Down the Chimmey
This is a beauty and fun to play. Great elevation to this course. Nice sand traps best ive seen so far. A little far out of the way but well worth the drive and price for the course was excellent.
Great day in January
Was a 55 degree day in Jan, Had rained a lot the day before, cart path only but course in great shape. Good time had by all
Great Course, but....
I really like this course, and it wouldn't take much for me to love it, but being a municipal course in Winder will probably keep it from greatness. It's the little things that add up, such as no beverage cart and only 2 water coolers on the entire course (not a healthy combination on those hot Summer days). No ball washers at the tee boxes (okay maybe 1 or 2). The clubhouse isn't a clubhouse. You can by a cold beverage, but most of the time the grill (very small with limited offerings - think hot dogs) is closed. Finally, most of the staff are very good, but there are 1 or 2 grumpy old men that have no business being allowed near paying customers.
Okay, enough on the negatives, and now for the positives: great layout, very well maintained, and scenic! Plays great for someone with a medium to high handicap, and is a very good value for the buck.
So, if all you care about is the golf you'll love it. If you are looking for the amenities you probably will find it lacking.
inexpensive
Best course for the money. Fairways and greens always in great shape.
Great course for the price
I have played this course many times, the greens today where in outstanding condition. They where faster than before and rolled true, fairways where also in great shape. I would say that you would be hard pressed to find a course around that would be a better value, The Chimneys is a fun course to play and I always have a good time.
Fun course
First time I played the course and I was very pleased! Fun course and great value! The greens were sandy and bumpy but everything else was in good shape. I will play again for sure!
Excellent condition, well maintained course
Took a chance to drive 40 mins to play this course as prior reviews indicated this was good course to try. Was pleasantly surprised even though the weather was heavily overcast, I enjoyed the round. Every hole setup is gorgeous. Fairways and greens were well manicured. Very different from playing your typical 'in town' courses where the fairways are lined with residential homes. Its located in the burbs for sure (and there is not much of a club house) but if you like a picturesque course that is well maintained and away from the city, this is it. Highly recommend playing here!
A hidden gem
This was my first time playing this course. It's a a long enough course to have a enjoyable round of golf. It's very well maintained and offers enough challenges for the average golfer. I will certainly return for another round.
