Golfer Reviews
Bad Value - good layout, poor service, poor conditions
Was excited to make the 45 minute drive to Villa Rice to give the mountain course a shot. Despite playing my best round of the year, could not have left more disappointed. Worst greens I have ever seen and rock hard sand offset what was solid fairway and tee box conditions. Can tell the staff is fishing for every dollar possible as they charged us for our player that had to drop out morning of due to health issues. If the tee sheet was packed, I could maybe see it. But we didn’t see another golfer until our final hole. Might be worth $40 but not worth the journey for $90+.
Goat Tracks look better
I’ll keep this review simple. Charging same price as they did for Lakes yesterday which is in much better shape. Please see example green below and you can have your own opinion.
this course is fake news
reserved the lake course and when checking in, they put us on the mountain course. They knew exactly what they were doing in the pro shop because the mountain course is not in good shape. The greens look like a back of someone that’s on steroids. Pimple back horrid. I would not recommend this course. I drove from the city to play it. Very disappointed will not be back. It’s sad because this is a nice layout of a golf course. Just poorly maintained. Do not recommend. Sorry to write a bad review, but someone’s gotta be honest in the room.
Rough greens
Tee boxes and fairways were in good condition but the greens were in bad shape
The course conditions by someone who isn’t picky
We had a 7:00am tee time, The course overall is fair, the fairways and rough are thick and the ground isn’t too soft or too hard, tee boxes are awesome as well. my issue is the greens (probably the most important part). we played the mountain course and it’s a nice layout with some narrow fairways but the front 9 greens are terrible. lots of dead spots with no grass, some with more sand than grass i think the problem is irrigation. the back 9 greens are a lot better couple of em have dead spots but most of them have more grass than the front 9. also lots of piles of grass hanging around the greens from where the crew cut but didn’t blow them off. i wouldn’t pay 65$ to play here again, maybe 40$ max. i’ve seen public courses have better greens for better price than this, and to call this a country club i wouldn’t say your getting country club quality. we drove an hour to play here and i will say i wont be back. no hate but that’s my honest opinion.
The owner has finally achieved goat track status at all 3 courses
Greens are destroyed. Check out the video. Owner has high turnover staff and won’t let the course rest and recover. He has ruined a once good club.
What happened????
Played mountain on 7/31. THE GREENS ARE DESTROYED. It’s disappointing because this is a great facility. The staff is always so nice. The range is excellent. The bar is great too. But these greens…I don’t know what has happened, but they’re just dirt, sand, and cracked brown spots. Please get them back. I enjoy the place, But these greens…..
Aug 2026 Mountain course not in good shape
Normally a treat to play. Great staff, great layout, and beautiful but the greens are in terrible shape. Fairways needed cutting when I played. I'll play here again but not anytime soon. I will not pay full price at it's current condition.
Greens in rough shape
Played the mountain course, several greens were in rough shape, weeds growing on them. It looks like it rained in the morning as there were pools of water on 1-2 greens. The course was not busy as if people in the know skipped a round on this track because of early rain or the condition of the greens.
Disappointed
Course layout is nice. Fairways were in great shape. Greens were terrible. For the price to play, I would expect better greens.
Greens were virtually unplayable
The condition of the greens were brutal. They shouldn’t be charging the prices they did in those conditions. Absolute joke.
Not worth the money
Not worth the $90+ for a prime tee time. Driving range was closed which I can understand since it rained the night before. Greens are absolutely atrocious. Tee boxes were ok. Fairways were decent. Bunkers were washed out. Greens were absolutely atrocious. Weeds and black algae on everything single green. This was my first and last time playing the mountain course. I will not come back. Save your money, save your time and go anywhere else.
What HAPPENED....Need HELP!!!!
I played the Mountain course and was in disbelief regarding the course conditions. The greens were in awful shape along with some of the Tee boxes. I don't play the course often, but the last two times I was there it was in good shape. Not sure if maintenance staff has changed, or ownership, but the current rate should be lowered until the course conditions improve. I'm not sure if the Lake course is in better condition or not.
Mirror Lake Plummets
I've played the Mirror Lake Mountain Course 10–13 times, and I can honestly say the condition of the course has declined significantly over the last year. It's disappointing, especially considering the cost. Whether you're paying more than $3,000 for a membership or $88 for a single round, the experience simply doesn't justify the price.
The greens had numerous bare spots, the tee boxes were in poor condition, and the pace of play was frustratingly slow despite there being very few golfers on the course on a Sunday.
I hate to say it because I enjoy the layout, but right now I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. I hope to see the course return to the condition it once was because it has the potential to be a great place to play.
Greens are horrible
I get bent grass has trouble in the summer but this is ridiculous. I suspect other courses with bent grass don’t have these problems. There is lots of crab grass and lots of dead areas. It’s official all three courses at ML/Chaoel Hills are a goat track. Even the he Bermuda greens roll like you’re putting on broccoli. I uploaded a video. Might be worth $12 to play.
Mirror Lake Mountain Course
Fun challenging course. Fairways are in great shape but the greens are terrible right now. A lot of dead spots to charge 100$ for a round.
Bad greens
$100, range balls not included, stacked full tee times 9 min apart, greens in rough shape. Would not come back until they fix these things
Greens
Fairways were in great condition. The greens are a different story, we played the mtn course the layout is great' the greens are in pretty poor condition they have some kind of black fungus/disease. So in my opinion if the greens were better it would be worth the price but right now it's not.
