About
Located in Gainesville, Chicopee Woods Golf Course is one of the area's most popular public courses. The 27-hole layout is divided intro three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The nines, the Village, the School, and the Mill, share a beautiful rolling landscape provided by the surrounding foothills of the Appalachians. The School nine is the second longest of the three. Water comes into play on four holes, more than on any of the other nines. The course finishes with a memorable water hole. The par-5 ninth hole has two ponds that wrap around the green. Besides the water, you'll also have strategically placed bunkers to contend with. There are many challenging holes at Chicopee Woods G.C., but none of the courses are overly punishing for high handicappers.

Favorite course in the area
But they close the pro shop a little too early and many times you can’t use the restrooms on your way out. Just let the cart barn guys lock up.
Course is in great shape tho. All the bunkers were raked since we just had tons of rain. Greens were fast and soft.
Great course
I have played this course before and it is always enjoyable (even if the weather isn't). The course was cart path only due to the heavy rain of the previous day but still was fairly playable; some areas were really wet, so we just moved the ball. The weather was very cold and windy, but the course was good.

Wet Winter Roubd
I generally really like this course with one huge exception. They are terrible about managing tee times and pace of play. Always hurry up and wait. No on-course control. Tee times are too tight. Causes me to say no to play here and not recommend. Plus, they allow push cart play on top of tight tee times and slow pace.
The Pro Shop and starting
staff do their job. No more. Seems they don’t want to be there.
Fix these issues and one heck of a course to play.
I keep hoping !! 🤷🏻♂️

Favorite course in the area
Fun layout. Great greens. Absolutely love this place. But the clubhouses closes too early so you can never use the restroom after your round is over.

Challenging
The 3 nine whole courses at Chicopee Woods are all in great shape considering it is the winter months. Greens are quick, courses are all challenging and each courses requires a lot of club selection. The staff is very friendly and professional. I always enjoy playing Chicopee.

Slow Play
Course conditions are nice. Had to wait on a golf cart and parking was a nightmare - meaning they really over booked. Took over 3 hours to play 9 holes once we got going. Again, course is nice, but seemed poorly managed. In the summer 6+ hours for 18 isn't really an issue, but not when the days are shorter. I would go back, but on off days or book out in advance a really early start.

Bring your A game to Cherokee Run
Cherokee Run is one of the most challenging golf courses in the metro Atlanta area, and yet always guarantees a memorable round. The course layout is tough but fun. The super fast greens will test every touch of your short game. Especially, if you have a foursome that enjoys the scramble format, this course is a must try. Me and my three buddies always have a blast and yesterday was no exception.

Difficult course
The course has a lot of uphill, sidehill fairways. Some holes if you do not hit to perfect position balls will roll away. Great golfers may enjoy it. Really tough for the mid to high handicapper.
