About
Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians, Chicopee Woods Golf Course is a 27-hole course that sprawls across rolling terrain. It is one of the most popular public courses in the Gainesville area. The holes are divided into three nines called the Village, the School, and the Mill. They share the same scenic landscape but they each offer a different set of challenges. Five sets of tees provide the option of playing to your skill level. The Mill is the shortest of the three nines. Strategically placed bunkers come into play on almost every hole, you'll find plenty of them on the par-4 seventh. There are back-to-back water features starting with the second hole, the golf course's only water holes. Chicopee Woods GC also has a driving range and chipping and putting greens available.

I got stung by a wasp
At 4th hole, I got stung by a longevity wasp on my left calf when I was near the rough area. I was almost shocked, luckily I don't have any allergy. I just have serious pain and dizzy for two days, still itching like crazy.
Nobody wants insect bites while playing golf, I just don't understand why it happened to me. My friend was asking me to call 911, but I endured for.
I'm just afraid to go again. The area might needed better pest controls.

Chicopee Woids has 3 nines. Wednesday we played The Mill, my favorite and The School. Did not play The Village. Course was not crowded so pace if play was quick 3:20 which was great in the 100 heat index. Both nines were in beautiful condition…. lush fairways and rough, good sand in the bunkers and great tee boxes. The Mill’s greens were a little thick and slow which also reduces break and the challenges of putting but understandable with the recent heat. Hopefully the afternoon daily showers this week will allow them to mow the greens shorter. The School’s greens had just been punched and top dressed.( It is that time of year) Check-in and starter were quick and friendly. Also saw ranger multiple times. Love that courses manage pace of play. Also beverage cart came around several times which was great. Course also had multiple water coolers filled every few holes….GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Another bonus is several racks of sand bottles around course. I’m a divot taker so I always fill mine and any others close to my lie so I used 4 bottles of sand. Good courses with a wide variety of layouts and always kept in great shape. Thanks Chicopee Woods…see you soon!!

Good course layout. Solid/ consistent greens. Great variety of holes with 3 different 9’s. Always a great experience.
