Hadn’t played since 2020. It had definitely rained the night before. A bit wet, but still 90 degrees! Greens rolled beautifully. Layout is incredible and the staff were super helpful and friendly! 100% recommend this course! Made the hour and a half drive and it was well worth it!!

Can not say enough good things about Ocano,. Excellent staff and maintenance crew. Both fairways and green were championship/TPC quality. Typical Palmer course; challenging yet fair for all levels of the golfer, makes the golfer think about his line, exceptional design. My only recommendation is that the management should require a 2 hour course on golfer responsibilities of divot repairs on greens, and, sand filling on fairway divots to "get his card" before being allowed on the course without adult golfer supervision. You might tell I was a little PO'd about hackers disrespecting such a beautiful course......management and maintenance crews can not do it all.

One of the best courses in North Carolina should be higher on the list for me in the top 10 in the State maybe top 5 including Pine Hurst and other courses any where in the State

Absolutely recommend to anyone. Never ran into anyone playing and course was in great shape.

This must be the biggest and vastest course i played, most of the holes are far apart, it took me and my friend 4 hours to play and it was just two of us in the course.. there were more cart drive, u wont see the club house until u finish playing and from 18th whole to the club house was far. Hahaha and from club house to the 1st tee box was far.. hahah but,, its very beautiful and very scenic.. i love it.. ill play again..

I loved playing this course. The conditions were excellent and the views of the Sound are awesome.

Palmer designed a fair course with pitfalls if you are are overly aggressive but you can shoot for the flags to receptive greens.

I drove from Raleigh to play this course. Triangle golfers it is well worth the drive.

Course is a bit in the middle of nowhere, but it’s well worth the drive. Was in great shape and staff was friendly.

Gorgeous views, nice layout.. I'm not gonna lie, too difficult for me.. But it was a nice visit..

This course did not disappoint! The fairways and greens are weeks ahead of any other course this time of year. Everything from the staff to the course itself was superb. I feel it is on the pricey side but you cannot deny its level of play. They invest heavily back into their product. Will be back again!

When you play Occano, you better be ready for some possible windy conditions. The pro shop is not located near the 1st hole or 18th hole. The driving range & putting green are also not located near the pro shop. This issue could be resolved if at the front gate they gave out some directions, or just had some better signage pointing to the pro shop. The course itself was beautiful and in good condition, but there wasn't a lot of guidance given by the proshop, nor was there a starter, so everyone at the range kept asking everyone else what their tee time was. These are correctable issues, but it currently is keeping me from giving 5 star review. In place of a snack cart they did have some coolers on a few holes filled with ice & water.

One of My Favorite Courses – Worth Every Penny

This golf course is absolutely one of my favorites. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by a friendly, professional staff that clearly takes pride in the place. The course itself is beautifully maintained with a layout that’s both challenging and enjoyable for all skill levels. Every hole feels thoughtfully designed, and the scenery is just top-notch.

The only slight downside is that it’s a bit on the expensive side—but honestly, in today’s world, that’s not unexpected, and you truly get what you pay for. If I lived a little closer, I’d be out there all the time.

Great course, great people, and an overall fantastic experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the game. You won’t be disappointed.

Greens were punched but not sanded. That would have been nice to know before hand.

We had an incredible time at this course from the moment we pulled in the parking lot. We were treated like royalty conditions were perfect. Won’t find a nicer course around.
