Good course, great pace of play, wonderful people
Windermere CC is a good course with better than average conditions and 4 or 5 great holes.
The Starter, the bag boys, the people at the Pro Shop make you feel truly welcomed.
It is challenging without being really difficult.
I loved the fact that even though the course was filled to capacity with foursomes, we were able to play in four hours.
It was a great day at a nice course.
A course to test!
A very nice and interesting course to play, with water to keep in mind. 2 or 3 greens need to be improved.
We will be back soon!
Looked interesting
A little disappointed, nice community, probably was a stud at some point, not now. Fairways ok rough was bare... sparse not much grass at all. Greens were slow, but in ok shape.
Pace of play was not good, tee time early afternoon,
at times 3 groups on 1 hole, too many two-somes that should have been paired up. Ranger not effective at all. Lunch and drinks after were great.
Not bad for the discounted price of green fee.
A Great Day
The weather was perfect, the course was in great shape for March and the people at the course were very helpful. We had a great time and the cost was very reasonable for such a good course.
Outstanding Deal on Fire Sale
Got a last minute deal about 2 hours before tee time. For $32, this was a steal. Outstanding course that have very undulating greens. Fairways were not in as good condition as last year, but still quite good. Pace of play was an issue due to a 5-some of kids playing a few groups in front of us. Guys behind us left. However, the day was good overall.
Great Time!
We only paid $48 to play on a Saturday and I feel like it was a steal! The course is great! The holes are all very different and the topography is awesome, especially in Florida.
Loved it
lovely mature challenging course. We had a slow group in front of us on the front nine but marshall handled it and we still got round in under 4 hours.
Out of 5 courses we have played this by far the best value and we are going back .
No gimmicks ,reasonable fairways, challenging greens and the best hot dog at the turn !
Great experience.
Perfect day
Course was well groomed. Every hole is challenging. Friendly staff. Paired up with staff member who was great in pointing out the challenges (thanks Tom).
Surprise
When we arrived, we were told there was a wedding taking place on the 10th tee at 3:00 and we'd have to start on the back nine. We'd have waited and played another day had we known this and did not appreciate the surprise since the course's best holes are on the back nine. Once we made the turn, we knew we were in for some rather uninteresting holes, which we don't usually mind when we have the better 9 to look forward to on the back. We also didn't realize we could walk until we saw other people walking.
greens good
played as a twosome knew it was going be waiting every shot and a couple smart azz kids behind us started hitting into me and they were members kids I told them to back off 3 times they thought it was funny I didn't, I was 2 under got so upset . game went too .
I picked the wrong day to play this beautiful course
The weather forecast was partly cloudy with a high of 71. Well I played at 1:07 and the temperature was in the low 50s with a wind chill (17 mph) in the 40s. It was so cloudy that we only saw the sun on 1 hole. Very unusual for March weather in the sunshine state. By the 14th hole, we were just trying to hurry and get out of the cold wind. I would not have played if I had known the weather would be like that. I booked a $44 tee time on golfnow. Well they charged me $54 plus tax at the clubhouse (I think it was because I am not a FL resident?). Then they charged extra for range balls on top of that. But the starter was very friendly and pace of play was fantastic. Greens were a little on the slow side because they had not mowed them that morning for some reason. Bermuda rough was playable but not too easy. The course is a very fun layout in my opinion. There are ponds along a couple of the fairways that are hidden from the tee box. I will probably be back to play this course again in nicer weather.
Disappointing
First, the good This is a beautiful course and will challenge every club in the bag. The conditions were outstanding from tee box to green. The facilities were what you would expect from somewhere Tiger lived and played. We were really looking forward to a great time. Unfortunately, the evidence clearly shows that they will take your money, but they don't care about your experience or if you come back.
When we arrived, an hour before our 2:10 tee time, we were told there were no carts. After checking in we had to schlep our clubs and practice balls to the range which is probably a couple hundred yards. 10 minutes before our tee time we still didn't have a cart and our clubs were still at the bag drop. After asking, we finally got a cart... which died on the 4th hole. They brought another one out. On the 1st tee, it was reinforced that the pace of play is 4:15 for the round. We booked the 2:10 time partially based on that, as darkness was about 6:45. However, we also overheard the staff saying it was the busiest day they had all year. We also noted they were allowing walkers. Walkers? Really? For the next 4.5 hours our emotions went between disappointment, frustration, anger, and feeling ripped off. Not because of our golf game, but because the pace of play was so slow that we did more waiting and sitting than playing. It was impossible to get a rhythm going and the slow play, as expected, affected our game.
As we made the turn, another walker, a young girl who had not played the front nine, was allowed to jump in with the group in front of us. When I asked the employee about it while we were waiting, again, he said she was a member so they let her do that.
We ran out of dayllight on the 14th tee and drove back to the clubhouse. . Upon our arrival, one of the employees said that they KNOWINGLY overbooked the course by 80 players and immediately shooed us off. I spoke to the pro shop employee that checked us in and he was unapologetic that we only got through 13 holes. He said that "the members" were allowed to walk if they wanted, and members take priority. He of course would not answer the direct question as to why they would take our money, KNOWING we would not be able to get the round completed in less than 6 hours when their stated pace is 4:15. It was knowing and voluntary poor course management at the expense of people that deserve the same common courtesy as the high dollar members. When asked for consideration in the form of a raincheck as an incentive for us to come back and change our impression, the employee was unapologetic and said there was nothing they would do.
Rangers who actually work
The weather was a bit iffy but we played. I was paired up with a great partner so the game was fun. The course was in good shape on fairways and greens. The tee boxes were a little bumpy and the rough was scabby. As long as the ball was in the fairways the course was great. The most impressivething to me was rangers who checked your time, were willing to move slower players along and knew that we had been waved through. We played in 2:45. WooooHooo
This course was challenging and nice
I had a great time playing Windermere Country Club for my first visit. The course had a lot of trees and a bunch of dog legs. It made for an interesting round of golf! I thought the condition was pretty good...you have to be precise off the tee, too. I would play the course again. You're also surrounded by amazing homes. It's a nice spot to be play golf.
Excellent value for the money & very friendly staff
As we were staying in Kissimmee, this golf course was a bit further than were typically travelling to play. However, based on recommendation from some people we met we took the drive and it was definitely worth the trip, and the course provided excellent value. A very challenging layout and in excellent shape and staff (from the ProShop to the Starter to the Course Marshalls) all very helpful and courteous.
I'd highly recommend this course to anyone seeking an excellent day of golf.
Average course
Average course nothing special to play but o.k. Was worried about the pace of play after reading some of the reviews but it was fine. Although the 4 ball behind us did lose 2holes !!
This course has a nice layout
I like this course because it is five minutes from my house. It will challenge all aspects of your game.
Good Course
Need to use all the clubs in the bag; greens were in good shape as were most of the fairways, bunkers well maintained. 2 long par 3s were challenging, especially #14. Wish I could play #15 (par 5) over. It's a sharp dogleg right and thought driver might put me through the fairway so hit 5 wood. Hit it good but got blocked out by tree at the turn. Good hole 'tho and want to play the course again. My wife agrees.
Excellent value
Really nice course with many challenging fun holes. Greens in good shape. Friendly staff, included a bbq at the turn. Amazing value for $49! Will return again and again
