Winter Park Pines Golf Club
About
Winter Park Pines Golf Club has offered one of the most affordable rounds in the greater Orlando area since first opening in 1968. The course has a traditional design that is ideal for beginners though it's also great if you're looking for a quick, casual round. The par-70 golf course may seem odd with a par-34 front nine and a par-36 back nine, but the layout manages to blend together seamlessly. The golf course has short par 4s and par 3s of varying lengths. There is one par 5 that measures 462 yards. The first half of the course is especially scenic with mature trees framing most of the holes. In addition to the golf course, Winter Park Pines also has a practice facility available. It features a driving range as well as putting and chipping greens with a bunker.

Invested in the wrong place.
I booked my tee time on Golf Now. I happened to book the incorrect tee time and showed up 35 minutes late. The staff was kind and still allowed me to go out. That marks the end of anything good to say about this place.
Almost every tee box was mounded. Standing at a ridiculous angle for what should be a flat lie. The greens, despite January-April being peak golf season in Florida, were almost completely dormant and/or mostly mud. They were bumpy and making a putt outside of 2 feet was virtually impossible. I know I’m not a pro, but as a 3.7 handicap I can usually sink a few.
The carts had GPS Trackers which was nice (I guess), until the gps would lead you to places the cart could not go. They also had ball/club washers attached to the back of the carts… they should detach them because on EVERY available cart to choose from, all of the washers were broken. Looked like someone got angry and smashed all of them with a pitching wedge.
$60 for a round was ridiculous. I mentioned something to one of the gentlemen I played with, and he mentioned the Club Owners dumped money into a new pro shop, bar, and drainage systems for the course.
The gentlemen said the pro shop and bar were not in bad condition and all of the members he plays with are irritated at course conditions and believe the money was spent in the wrong place.
Needless to say, I will not be back, nor will I recommend this course to anyone except for absolute beginners and that would be just to keep them from hacking up something worth playing.
A bummer that 0 stars isn’t an option.
Cool Winter’s Day!!!
Had a really enjoyable time today. We’ve played the course before and always find it challenging when the winds is blowing. Greens keep one on their toes, as it has many subtle direction changes on just about every green. The golf cart GPS gives one insight on what to expect on the greens with its grain/break presentation. Pace of play was really smooth today. Staff was friendly and very professional in all dealings. Recommend this course for either 9 or 18 holes…
Decent course: disappointed with recent price hikes
The corse was never an amazing shape, but it was never in bad shape. It was always a fun course to try to get in nine holes after work or race to sneak in 18 at a fair twilight rate. Used to be around 25 or nine and 34 for 18 at a fair rate but now seeing twilight rates as high as $55 I’m very disappointed with the conditions of the course for the price and the overall price raises, considering it doesn’t seem to have improved the course very much. The layout was never something to write home about but it was always a fun course to get out with some friends for a cheap afternoon. Sadly, the price will keep me from coming back.
Not worth $60!!!
It’s a fun course that’s always in good shape, the greens roll nice, and are fast. But it’s NOT A $60 COURSE!!! Cmon, WP!!! Don’t you make enough money downtown?!?!? Gross!
better than before
Worth playing for sure...give the greens another year to grow in. They're much better than before WP bought it, but seem a little bumpy. Folks need to pick up their feet, fix ball marks...scuffed greens on every hole yesterday. Still, worth playing.
I learned to play golf on this course in 1970. I presently don't play it often now but I recall the course was always in great shape. However, this past time I thought the greens were in the worst shape I ever remember. I am glad to see the t times 10 minutes apart but I think the green fee is about $15 too high for this course, especially with the conditions of the greens.
Winter Pines Continues to Improve
I played a fun 9 hole round at Winter Pines 12/6. It's in good shape and the staff is always top notch and friendly. They have removed a few bunkers which is nice; greens could use some more grass is about all I'd change.
Good course
The staff is awesome. The course is in great shape. Getting better all the time. Just too many par threes for my liking. But not really a complaint. You know what you are getting when you book. It’s a good course for the price. Well maintained.
Pines for 60?!
This is the course I grew up on. It’s laughable what they are charging now. I don’t care if the city bought it, there is no way the price is justifiable. Suckers and hacks will pay it so why change it. Sad.
Stay away
I didn’t even play here but i know this course is no where near 60$+ course is always over book slow play very short course there like 6 par 3s stay way not worth 60$ it is a rip off
much better now
Quite the improvement since WP bought the place. Greens are much improved, but I'm still seeing some unforced bobble during putts. Just needs more time and care, maybe roll them. Worth playing.
