David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Golfer Reviews
Great twilight course
My go-to course. Can leave the driver at home and play irons, or play your own tips and utilize the driver. Pace of play is decent, except many players seem to loop back and play multiple times. I frequently walk the course after 7 pm which is when the last carts go out. Usually I can get ~12 holes in from 7:30-10 pm which is fine by me, but there are is rarely a marshall. Often times we are met with random cart drivers (who should be long gone) on early holes -- especially holes 6-9.
For $15 twilight you can't really beat this place, and the course is lit which keeps me coming back weekly. The club house guys are all friendly and the driving range is nearly always full.
Greens under repair.
I don't mind paying Green fees, but they should have at least said something to us when we were checking in with the starter that the greens were under repair and that 4 out of 9 greens on the back 9 were closed and they moved the cups into the fairway so you were putting on the fairway. They had heavily spread fertilizer on all the other greens. It was like putting on sand. They should have given you the choice to play under those types of conditions or offer a discount.
First timer
First time coming here with a foursome. Very easy, flat and straight course. Nothing too challenging. Cart girl came around fairly often enough, and the club house staff were courteous. The only reason I have 3 stars for staff friendliness was because the Marshall was riding our group and telling us to pick up pace but we literally could not go any faster because of the groups backed up in front of us. We told him this and he still insisted we move faster. Other than that I would still come back here for a easy day of play.
Nice practice course
After the 4 days of straight rain the course wasn’t all to bad. Muddy in some areas and bunkers flooded but other than that it was a fun and short course to play. Game play was backed up after the second or third hole. Luckily the 2 groups ahead of us played quickly and didn’t waste time.
Short & Sweet
Did not play during optimal whether so conditions were sub par, but overall provided value for price and great course to practice at. Executive style with some nice designs and short yardage focus. Would recommend and revisit.
Great course to work on your short game
Played a night round here on Saturday at 5pm. Pace was fine as we only had to wait on a few holes and it wasn't bad. Overall the course was in decent shape. Surprisingly there weren't too many ball marks on the greens. Tee boxes were just soso. Hard to find a level spot to hit from. My only real complaint are those frisbee flags. You sorta get confused when playing at night when visibility isn't the best.
I hear horror stories about this place during the day on weekends though. 5hr rounds on this course is absolutely ridiculous. Should only take about 3 - 3.5 hrs max even for beginners.
Night golf at its best
There's not too many places where you can play night golf. There's even less places where you can play an executive 18 with a cart at night. Some of the fairways are tight and close. There's several times where we have to wait to tee of because there were people in our fairway from two different holes. Some of the pins are hard to find. But I had a blast!
Terrible Pace of Play
It took 5 hours to play an executive course. Threesomes were playing 2 balls and the marshal was not pushing anyone along. If you are looking to drink and swing a club this may be your place. If you are looking to practice and get into a rhythm, this course is not for you.
