David L. Baker Memorial Golf

Greens were super slow and one had goose crap all over it. Another had geese that would not move!. Fairways had a lot of bare, hard pack. No rangers to help slow play. Have played course often and this was worst condition in months

I had made a reservation on GolfNow for what I believed was 8:37 a.m. but it was for 5:37 a.m. I recognized the mistake the morning of and could not contact anyone at the course until after the tee time. At 5:37 a.m. it was very dark and there was no tee time available to be advertised. I was charged for the round of golf by David Baker without even being there and was told that I was out of luck and contact GolfNow for any issues I may have. This seems to be a very UNPROFESSIONAL resolution to my problem........ someone advertising and selling a product or service that is actually not available and being paid for it or taking payment without permission. I have been an OC resident all of my life and I will avoid this golf course for the rest of it. I worked hard for that $54.00.

I walked on to this course looking for a tee time . They said that they allow carts before 5:00 p.m.. since they did not want to work they did not give me a cart to go on the course saying that they do not have tee times later till 5:30. I saw groups in front of m teeing off into 2 somes. I asked them if I can join them in a card. He said you cannot go to the course because we do not have a tee time . Surprisingly it was empty and he wouldn't let me go because they did not want to work.

I ended up taking some range balls, and he asked me, do I need a small bucket or a large bucket. I asked for a large bucket. After hitting balls for 30 minutes the guy makes an announcement that the course is now closed at the driving range. I asked the guy why did you sell me the bucket if the course was getting closed. He had no answer to that and said you cannot hit balls.

The guy mentioned they have strict policies due to covid. if I remember correctly this was the only course which was open during covid when the restrictions were tight in California. they did not care about covid at that time. now they're trying to get strict with policies. very surprised the way this course functions. Save your money save your dollar do not show up here as these guys are the WORST.

Golf now changed my credit card for the discount I was supposed to get. No way to contact them.

So bad, we quit after 12 holes and 3 hours!! This course is rough in places, and tee marker placements were mostly on dirt. Worst of all, this course has far too many "hackers" to enjoy the round. Waited for 5-10 minutes on every tee--the group ahead of us had too much beer and not enough golf skill (hit multiple balls from every tee). NO RANGERS ON COURSE! Also had far too many distractions with other golfers yelling at each other, and driving carts all over the course. If you are a real golfer, go elsewhere and play real golf, on a real course, with other real golfers, who practice real golf etiquette.

A solid Par 3-4 course. Course conditions were good overall, the greens were slow on the back 9 but faster on the front. Friendly staff and it’s nice to have the putting green and warm up range within walking distance before you tee off. Thanks for a great Saturday!

On longer courses I try to swing too hard. I like the shorter distances at Baker. Learning to swing with a better tempo.

Nice little course. Play was a tad slow. Foursome in front of our twosome and did not let us play through. Sand traps hard as cement. But overall had a good time. Will be playing again
