David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Summer Nights Were Made for Baker
David L. Baker is the local budget golfer's favorite for it's straight forward layout, drivable Par 4's, and excellent night golf. Night golf is my favorite way to enjoy this course. It starts out with a pitching wedge reachable par 3, and then kicks into a dogleg right par 4 that is very receptive to an easy fade. The 3rd hole tees off over water with a bailout right. It's a test of nerves, with birdie potential. I love to reach this hole around sunset, take a deep breath, and take my best shot at the flag. The mix of 3's and 4's allows for the confident golfer to step on the gas and challenge themselves, and the newer golfer to lean back and take it in stride. I love how the 9th hole is a fade-ready par 4 with water in play if the fade slices too much. Personally, it's become my favorite hole. My last round there, I ended up driving the ball 34 yards past the 301 yard to center of the green. 335 yards total. Chipped on for an easy putt. This place brings out the best in me.
Enjoyable Round
It was a hot day so we chose to ride with our twosome. Teed off a little earlier than scheduled as pace of play was pretty quick. Didn't have to wait much. Never stacked up on next tee, just had to wait for group ahead to move out of range or off the green. Greens were a little peppered with ball marks that people don't fix. Recommend this course for seniors, or beginner to intermediate level. Not good for advanced/long hitters as no Par 4's over 300 yards. Long hitters will slow down play waiting for greens to clear on driveable Par 4's - which is quite a few. Had a fun, well-paced round. Threesome ahead of us and twosome behind us. Fun little course. Nice driving range with mats or grass adjacent to the clubhouse for easy access and warmup.
Want $ back
as you first enter, there is a sign that says "no 5 somes allowed". Little strange but OK. Funny enough 1st tee, there is a 5 some of first timers. Oh god. Only played 12 holes. What a waste. Terrible, no marshall. Golf now take this course down!
Great course for "executive" round
In comparison to other par 3 executive courses, this place was great for a quick round and work on your short game. Definitely will be playing here again!
Fun, but a bit pricey
Fast early morning round, course was in good shape, everything was awesome...but I feel like nearly $40 is a bit steep for a short course, even with a cart. Oh well, golf isn’t cheap and fun is what we pay for, and David L. Baker is always fun!
Good for irons
I brought my 3W, which was more than enough club for this course. The par 4's are pretty short (250-275), could easily play this course with just irons. The greens were slow and beat up (no one fixes their divots), but not the worse greens I've ever played. Overall a decent course to work on your short game or for beginners to intermediate golfers.
