David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Wednesday wonder
The hard, thin fairways give a golfer lots of roll. The greens are very soft, thick and slow allowing for many three putts. We found the sand bunkers were more like dirt bunkers with very hard bottoms. All of the tee ball markers were set way forward. The best part of our golf day was that it wasn't very crowded and we finished in 3 hours, ten minutes. Also, it was a good value.
Very SLOW
I went to play a fun round on Sunday at an executive course. Waiting on every hole for two teams to finish was not fun. So I was trying to get a raincheck or credit but because we booked through golfnow, could not get anything. So book it through them or don’t play on weekends. At least the staff were trying to accommodate us because they understood, (their words) “brutal” pace of play. Course conditions were whatever you get for the money in an executive course— nothing too bad, nothing too great.
God practice
This was a great course for my 8 year old son with moderate experience. Short holes but fun to play.
Nothing good
Prepaid $45 for a noon tee time. Waste of money.
No carts available, so waited around for 30+ minutes for someone to return one. Several players making the turn were driving solo. Pace of play was reported to be 2.5+ hrs per 9 for an executive course?
Starter had no control over the situation and didn’t appear to care much. Walked out without playing and without refund. Gave our round to some older gentlemen who apparently didn’t mind the chaos. NEVER again! What a joke.
Great for beginners, old people and those of us in rehab.
Well, summer is here and the grounds are getting brown in more spots. The putting greens are not real smooth. BUT, you can't beat it for the price... the folks who work there are very nice. Today it was really hot and they close the "small eating area" and couldn't order water, as there was a Wedding in the "BIG" room, attached to the small lunch size separate area. So, no water. Otherwise, fun.
Good deal
I’ve been playing David L Baker for many years now. Weekly Twilight has always been a great deal. The course is decent, my only complaints would be the pace of play is extremely slow because of tee times not spaced out enough and sometimes the wait time on the tees is easily 15-20min per hole which is somewhat frustrating for a small course. My only other complaint would be the condition of the greens.. most of the players inexperienced as they are, If the staff at David L Baker would stress to REPAIR YOUR BALL DIVOTS in the greens! The greens would certainly be almost impeccable. But I still enjoy playing this course very much and I will always come back to play this course at least once a week.
Friendly Wildlife!
Played while visiting family in the area. Found the course to be well groomed, play to be well paced and would be remiss if I didn't mention the ducks and squirrels that approach you on the course. Made for a wonderful afternoon of golf with my husband.
Enjoyed the round.
I played with a friend and we had a great time. The course was not busy and we did not wait on any tee areas until the last three holes. The sand traps are difficult to play from. To me this is the area that this course most improve: the sand traps....
nice executive course
great for practicing on your short games and driving with 8 reachable par 4s.
Nice day for golf.
Baker's greens are in good shape, fairways okay... not too much rough, but clumps can be bothersome.
Fun to play today. Pacing was nice. Not overly busy.
Great course for the money
My son and I play this course regularly. The pace can be slow at times but it's still a good one.
It's well taken care of and allows us to use all our clubs.
