David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

This course is somewhat challenging.
We like this course because the yardage is just right for us seniors. Close to home. Friendly staffs.
Windy and Cold
Windstorm made the course play more challenging.Hole #14 played about 190 yards to the pin and my ball caught the wind and ended over the green. Very rare for me indeed. Unfortunately shooting into the wind all of the shoots were falling short. The course was actually fun to play with the wind... but still most traps are like concrete with a little sand on top.
Played with 98 year old WW2 vet
Played with 98 year old ww2 vet and his buddy who was 90. This is a good course for short game and iron play. After hole 7, my buddy and I played ahead of these gentlemen, as the course was pretty open. I enjoyed their company and it was honor playing with WW2 vet. We are so lucky to live in America and enjoy Golf. Slow or fast, better to be happy.
Slow
Not the best players here. Constantly dodging balls. Expected though for this type of course. But a 2.5 hour front 9 on a executive course and backed up 3 groups on the 10th tee box so we left .
Great pace of play
We started at 7am and we’re finished by 10am and we are not good golfers. We never had to wait on any hole. Had to walk the front nine because they weren’t allowing carts due to flooding and wet conditions. We got a Golf Now Hot Deal for $21 with cart and it felt like a great value.
Night Golf
The lighting is very poor in the tee box and on several holes I couldn’t see my ball. Too many shadows elsewhere. The children playing sports in the park had much better lighting. I recommend Baker for a day round.
Working on course
The greens are coming into shape. Especially if you're willing to fix several pitch marks. Grounds keepers were busy punching tee areas and parts of the fairways. Course has several holes off the end of cart paths and on the side of cart paths. Most are full of water. With rain in the forecast, these holes will probably get worse.
Greens are improving.
Most of the greens are in great shape and the ball is rolling on line. Unfortunately, more gofers need to repair their ball marks.
