David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

A Nice Time
Conditions were good- play was brisk. Had a nice time. Parkinbg lot was clean
Decent course
Golf course was in pretty good shape. Greens were surprisingly fast for what i was expecting. Played round in 4 and a half hours. Considering that it was a Sunday afternoon, I guess it wasn't too bad, but too much waiting on groups ahead of us for my liking. Golf shop employee was very friendly and welcoming to their course. I personally didn't buy any drinks, but was told by other members in my group that bartender was terrible. They ordered a well screw driver and bartender poured top shelf and charged them for it. All in all, I would play this course again.
book online
I was on the course website and tried to book a tee time. It either had an error or did not have times available.
When I went to Golfnow, a better tee time was available and was $5 cheaper.
At the course, David L Baker in FV, I arrived 40 minutes early playing as a single. They gave me a cart right away and let me go out early.
Saturday Play Is Slow
First time playing the course, drove in from San Diego to play with some friends. The course conditions were ok, green's were a bit bumpy and very slow. Some of the fairways need some attention. Many of the tee boxes are uneven and very chewed up.
small / nice course for ladies / beginner
small / nice course for ladies / beginner - par 62 with no par 5 holes - great course for beginner!
Great course
I've played this course a lot , I like the fact that you can play at night or 5am in the morning. DLB is a great course to work on your short game and all other parts of your game. I will recommend this course, great place to play.
Great Early Morning Round
Started at 7 am and was able to play the whole round in 2 and 1/2 hours without ever waiting for a group in front of us. Greens in excellent condition and tee boxes were in good condition too. Definitely a great value from Golfnow for a 14 dollar Friday morning round.
No better deal for the money
I love DLB! I have played all over SoCal and this course is the greatest bang for your buck. He staff is extremely friendly, the pace is good, the course is in good shape, and even know it is short, it still provides a challenge. Did I mention night golf! How can you beat that? Get off work and go play a round. Awesome. Thanks, DLB! Keep up the great work.
Greens
The greens were in good condition, well watered and somewhat soft. The only complaint was the large number of ducks on the course. The ducks left their droppings on the greens and made it impossible to not step on it or putt without having the ball deflected or covered in droppings.
NICE COURSE FOR THE MONEY
WATCH OUT FOR THE WATER. IF IT IS CLOSE IT WILL ROLL IN.
Great for your short game
Yes the greens had been recently punched so they were a little hairy, just part of green maintenance. They will be great. Pace of play on this day was fantastic...just under 4 hours to play. Good place to work on your game or for newer golfers. Great value.
First time out in 4 years
Staff was courteous and helpful. Course was in great shape and the others I was paired up with were wonderful.
Good Practice course
Good practice course but wasn't aware they had just punched the greens which made putting a challenge. I'm sure when the greens have grown in it would be a fun little course especially for the money.
Great for short game practice
The course, in excellent condition, is great for working on short game shots, as most greens are easily reached in regulation. I played with three local players who were a lot of fun.
Good short 18 holes!
Cheapest rates around, however, pace of play tends to be quite slow. Can get bogged down especially when you have folks playing 2 balls, not using good golf etiquette, etc. it's a bargain though and I will keep going back. Better pace of play if you can play during the week.
Food in the bar is good!
Good practice layout of par 3's and par 4's
Pace of play was excellent through first 11 holes. As a twosome, we then had short waits at each hole for the 2 foursomes in front of us.
Great course at a even better price!
This course is really taken good care of and the staff is friendly.
Need to monitor the traffic
A great short course for practice. The staff needs to regulate traffic, and a Marshall would help. A single Asian and his young daughter passed up two groups waiting on the tee, drove to the forward tees on the hole, and let her hit, essentially sticking him between the group on their approach shots to the green, and the two groups waiting on the tee. One of the other fellows waiting drove up and let him know that is not how the game works, but the intruder did not leave for a couple more holes, and a lot of comments from other groups. This is not a pleasant experience for any one, and should be monitored by the staff more closely.
Sunday Morning
This course is great for golfs that are beginning or that need to brush up on their short game.
