David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Great staff!
Friendly positive starters always eager to please.
5 hours to play an executive course?!?!
This was ridiculous! No course marshal to check pace of play and they obviously book too many players on the course, trying to maximize profits. I wouldn't play this course again for half the price. I've played here before and it's always been slow but this time it was out of control.
Good Experience
My wife and I are visiting from out of town. We have never played an executive course (par 62). Great chance to work on your short game and a real ego booster as you can drive a couple of the par 4's. We had a fun time and will return.
Decent course for beginners... not so good for a low handicap
I took advantage of an early morning hot deal, and booked myself as a single. I arrived 15 minutes before my tee time, and was offered the opportunity to start early. It was 7:30am, so the conditions were wet as expected. Unfortunately, there was a lot of ground under repair, and plenty of mud in the fairways (and around the greens) from golf carts and maintenance vehicles. Although I was able to complete my round in under 3 hours as a single and never waited more than 3 minutes to tee off, I have a hard time thinking I will come back and play here again. I prefer a par 70+ course with a combination of par 3,4 and 5s. As i was finishing my round, the course seemed much busier, and i noticed a few 4-5 person groups backed up or waiting to start their round. I would not play here on the weekends. If you need to work on your iron play with a few par 4s sprinkled in, then give this course a shot.
Very slow play
While the price is good to play this golf course, it is a very very very slow play. They regularly put five people on at a time which produces very slow play there is no Marshall to manage the courses. We play Here a lot, so this review is a combination of repeated long waits esp on the back 9. While we and other regulars have addressed this issue, they do nothing to fix it. All they need to do is get a couple retirees to be marshals give them free golf once in a while it would benefit the regulars and the referrals coming from people who played this course once a week.
Friendly Service
We cold have very good deal and golf shop staff is very friendly and nice. Highly recommended.
You Get What You Pay For
If you can't deal with people in jeans and hoodies consistently hitting their ball onto your fairway, this might not be the place. The course is short and in pretty decent shape, but you certainly get what you pay for.
Friendly, fast and fun!!!
Best staff in So Cal, they make you feel like a member. From teetime set up to pairing to start, a great place to play or practice.
Great Executive Course
I live down the street and have been playing this course for 20 years. Never on the weekends but it's a fun little course. The course is usually in decent shape and the pace of play isn't too bad. Never had it be more than 4 hours and played under 3 hours a few times.
The club house is friendly, the food isn't too bad, and the price is very reasonable. It's a fairly easy course so there will be a few hackers and seniors.
Not too many negative things to say about it, and always play it once a month.
Short but challenging
A lot of golfers discount short courses, but they can be a great test and practice for what might be ailing your game. For all but maybe two par 4s you don't need driver, it allows you to hit either fairway woods or something shorter off the tee to you favorite short iron or wedge distance. It's great practice for approach shots and putting! I enjoyed it, especially the pace of play, got finished in just 3 hrs! Had the rest of the day to do other things! Thanks too to the starter for making sure we got out as my online reservation didn't get through to their system, that's why I save and printout tee time confirmations!
Bang for your buck
$15 most afternoons, fun little course definitely allows you to work on your short/mid-range game. Staff is friendly and helpful. My go to course if I want to get a quick round in during the week.
This course needs a lot of work! Course also needs to EDUCATE their PLAYERS/CUSTOMERS ABOUT GOLF ETHIQUE & the GOLF RULES/REGULATIONS!
fROM A sCALE OF 1 TO 10 with 10 being the BEST, I RANKED DAVID BAKER as a DOUBLE ZERO (00)...
Practice course
This was a good course to practice your short game. A little overbooked, but doable
Good Practice Course
Don't think you would expect too much from this course since it's an executive course. However, it would have been nice to get a heads up about the 2 Retirement Tournaments going on that day in front and behind me. Expected a 2.5 hour round at 7am and it turned out to be a 4 hour round.
Bang for your buck.
This was the first time I played this course. I just received my new set of irons, so I wanted To play a shorter course where I could test them out. The course was $15 for 18 holes and a cart later on in the day. On the Monday I played it was not contested at all and made it through the round pretty fast. The greens were in good condition and allowed for some unorthodox shots that allow some challenge. I had a great time there.
Something smells
This course is a decent value for a short 18 hope course. The main problem is the horrible smell that makes it hard to want to encounter again.
