David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Fun for the money
This fun little executive course that offers just enough hazards and yardage to make it interesting. Pace was good and we rarely waited despite being being a 5 some. The greens were a train wreck however and for some reason they were watering in the middle of the day. The food was a disappointment but the drinks were cold. All in all a fun day if you don't take your game to seriously.
great course for new players
Not an extreme course. Still had some great challenges but great fun. You're not going to lose a lot of balls. Course plays evenly and very well designed to offer challenges but not frustrate you. You will for sure have fun.
Had Fun
David l. Baker is a fun course. it would be easy; however, the condition of the greens around the hole make it difficult to get that birdie or par. Overall a fun course. One caution watch out for geese droppings ewwww.
Poor management
This is the first time playing the course. The course itself was fine. The issue I had was the overbooking on the course. When we arrived we had to wait for a cart. I have golfed many courses and I have to say I have never seen so many people on a course. When I checked in I asked why it was so crowded. I was told that everyone loves beautiful weather. On the 5th hole there was a back up of 4 groups. We called the office to see if they could send out a marshall to get the play going. We never saw one and believe me we waited at that hole long enough to warrant one. This was not the only hole we had several groups waiting. I will not return.
Fun
This course is a fun one. Nothing too spectacular. We played it because we were staying near Disneyland and wanted to get an early round in. The course is near a large park and city streets, so there was a lot going on around us. The course is all par 3s and 4s. Good variety of distances, at least for the par 3s. I think I used every iron in my bag. Don't really need your driver. We were one of the first groups out in the morning so the pace was awesome. The guy in the pro shop was very friendly.
It was so good
The course condition is pretty good & the price is right.
Course and Place Review
I played on Sunday and was late for my tee time. Staff was cool about it and got me on the course right away. However, when I lines up to tee off on hole one a group behind me questioned if I was cutting. The pro shop guy had told me that I was supposed to be right behind the foursome that I was. But an old man in the group behind me was interrogating me about my place.
So the whole game whenever they were behind me they were not observing traditional golf etiquette ( talking loudly while I was teeing off, waiting a proper distance before teeing off behind me, ) I mean they all were wearing jeans so I should have expected it.
This frankly kind of ruined my experience and since there was no Marshalls to be found I dealt with it all 18 holes.
Average Course
Course is average, staff is nice, did not know that it was not a "full" course with the par being only 62.
Great course for seniors and beginners!
Played on a Sunday afternoon with my 82 year old father and his friend along with my beginner wife. The course is the perfect blend of challenging but not to long for the seniors, and not to intimidating for the beginner.
Very Busy Today
Clearly, there were people here home for Winter Vacation. The course was packed. Waiting was better than expected. I neither ate nor drank as it was my first time. There were some minor maintanance spots.if you want to work on your approach and medium length shots, this is a great spot. I will go back after the Holidays.
good course for the price
had a tee time at 6am for value price of $20.00. course is shorter but good shape and great weather.
Great fun!
Great course for practicing hitting a long straight ball. Short par fours can make or break your game. Good upkeep of greens. Nice staff.
Good course for beginner/intermediate players
This course is great for someone looking for a step up from par 3 courses, but is more forgiving than regulation courses. Rarely had much of a wait on the tees, even on a holiday. Course conditions weren't anything to write home about, but not terrible for November. Regular price can be a little steep for the course, but we got a deal so it was only $26.
Greens
Didn't know greens were punched .... But overall great round.
Literally slowest course I've ever played
It took almost 4.5 hours to finish an executive course? I don't have anything about people wanting to learn to play golf, but if your golf course is primarily played by people who are still learning the ropes you should really have a marshal out there keeping up pace of play. It would be one thing if the groups ahead of us were slow because they hit 7 yards at a time, but when each of those strokes are preceded by 100 practice swings and followed by 6 mulligans it gets out of hand. Additionally, the grass on the tee-boxes was a mess and the course as a whole was 49% golf course and 51% unfilled divots. The guy who checked me in and the lady who drove the food truck were really nice though!
Fun course great deals
I work a 9-5 so i love catching a late tee tome at david L. Baker. The course gets pretty well lit so I aleays get to finish 18. Pace always seems to move smoothly and its just a fun course.
Great course
Course in great condition had a great day of golf play thur 18 no stoppage value you cannot beat price with golf now
DLB
the course is a good value if you want to work on your short game. I don't think they punched this fall so the Greens tend to be a little bit wiggly and slow. But for a little more than $20 you can play 18 holes in under 3 hours and use every club in your bag
Play here regularly
Executive doesn't mean easy. While long hitters will miss par 5 holes, DLB will test your approach and short game. There are abundant water and sand hazards with greens sloping toward both. The greens are middlin speed and get a lot of activity for the amount of time they are maintenanced. It would help if golfers were more diligent about repairing divots. Fairways are treelined with average widths. The only notable downside to the atmosphere is you are not out of earshot from street traffic for long.
Long Waits
Great course to practice the short game, but even with a 6:00am tee time, there were two or three groups waiting on each hole. 18 holes still took me 4.5 hours.
