David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

DLB
the course is a good value if you want to work on your short game. I don't think they punched this fall so the Greens tend to be a little bit wiggly and slow. But for a little more than $20 you can play 18 holes in under 3 hours and use every club in your bag
Play here regularly
Executive doesn't mean easy. While long hitters will miss par 5 holes, DLB will test your approach and short game. There are abundant water and sand hazards with greens sloping toward both. The greens are middlin speed and get a lot of activity for the amount of time they are maintenanced. It would help if golfers were more diligent about repairing divots. Fairways are treelined with average widths. The only notable downside to the atmosphere is you are not out of earshot from street traffic for long.
Long Waits
Great course to practice the short game, but even with a 6:00am tee time, there were two or three groups waiting on each hole. 18 holes still took me 4.5 hours.
nice course
A Great course to work on your short game with well maintained fairways and greens.it's a short course but fun with water hazcards and well maintained sand traps.
Perfect Day for Golf
David L. Baker is a fun course and is wide open. I played on a Friday after work with two friends and we were able to knock out 18 holes in 4 hours. Great course to play if you are looking to relax and have a good time.
We're is the marshal ??
Play became slow because there was a group of ladies who didn't seam to care about pace of play and could have used a little nudge from a marshal
Friendly staff
Extremely friendly staff. Above average fairways and bunkers. Greens can use some help but for the price on Sunday not bad. Overall we enjoyed play here.
Good course to play a morning round.
Good confidence building course. Good pace of play, great for beginners.
Perfect for all level of the game
I have played this course a couple times this month since getting back into golf. The layout is player friendly that allows you to sharpen any part of your game. Just yesterday I brought my wife whom has never swung a golf club in her life. She loved the new challenge & I believe the course helped out as well. Being that it has a little of everything from the beach to the desert. A must play for beginners & the experienced.
David Baker
Not the first time I played this course. I once played here when I was 15, as a part of some company tournement of my Dads. I was playing on the High School team back then, and I had a wicked driver. I out drove the field that day in a Longest ball contest. The course is fun for beginners and intermediate players alike. I just wish there was a par 5 or two, still fun though. I will be back again!!
Gerring better
Looks like they are trying. Fresh sand in the bunkers and greens recently punched. Hopefully, grass on the fairways is next. My cart had bad brakes 4 weeks in a row. Not a $39 course. New owner raised the rates and instituted a "Seniors" club and now if I can't get a tee time online I play elsewhere. Still a fun place to play for us "older" folks.
wizebidder
Fun afternoon. Greens are in good shape. Fairways OK. Except for the five-some in front who took too long on the tees and on the greens, my wife and I played and enjoyed ourselves. They should send a ranger around once in awhile to tell people to keep pace. These guys were 3 to 4 holes behind.
Baker at Night
Convenient bargain - a chance for a quick round of golf on a nice short course after work.
June 27th Review
My buddy and I were scheduled at 1:30 and the mgt. let the youth group club in front of us an (each group had 4-5 kids). We played only 5 holes.....each hold was about 30 minutes. Every one was backed up at least 6 deep. Don't ever play behind the youth group. Cancel and get your $$ back. Fortunately we were able to get our money back on the holes we didn't play.
David L Baker is a fun short course
David O Baker is a great place for the beginner to novice golfers conditions are okay. Staff is very friendly courteous mostly helpful. Play is sometimes a little on the slow side but that is to be expected with novice golfers. It is one of my favorite courses to play. Just challenging enough to keep the semi experienced golfers coming back any great place for more experienced to work on the short game.
Good short game course
Played Saturday late morning - Completed front nine in 1-1/2 hours but 2-3/4 hours for the back. Not bad for the weekend - but too much waiting on the back. Water near about 10 holes but only seriously errant shots are in danger. Fairways are wide open and there are no fairway bunkers. Greens are well bunkered. The sand is not always the best quality. The elevation is level with trees separating fairways.
This is a fun little course.
Fun course
overall its a fun course. Can get kinda crowded in the evenings. Greens were good so not not bad for the price of money
Early orning play
Grateful to staff member who gave me a partial raincheck. Had to leave after 5 holes due to a call about a family emergency. Was moving at a great pace prior to this.
