The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

we could have had a 3.5 hour round except for the 5-sum in front of us...they were 2 holes behing, holding the entire course up !
no rain in this area for 2 weeks....many of the sand traps had big puddles in them

A local gem

I love David Baker. It's par 62 is an easy afternoon play yet you still get to bring out the driver on more than a third of the holes. The course is wide open and losing balls is not a problem here (unless your ball is thirsty). Price is extremely affordable especially because this is a well keep course. Highly recommended and don't forget to try out the cafe.

Excellent value, fun times

I have played here about 7 times now; I first played this course with my brother for a best ball tournament with his church group. This is a perfect place for a tournament. Being a novice that can’t even spell short game it is excellent practice for me.

Great course to work on your short game.

Baker is in good condition at this time of year. While the course is easy, the number of bunkers and the amount of water holes can increase your score. The course is easy to walk, but if you prefer riding the carts are in good shape.

This course needs help

Bunkers and sand traps are mostly hardpan dirt and rocks with puddles of water on the bottom.
Many of the fairways and tee boxes have huge brown spots or no grass at all.
Saw a group sneak on at the 6th hole, called the proshop and was told they were alone and there was no longer a Marshal during the week.
This course has joined the group forcing the Senior players to join their "senior clubs" or pay extra.
I could continue but probably won't make a difference.

Best weekday deals on golf for amateurs!

This course is great for amateurs! The course is wide open and you will commonly find other golfers hitting their sliced ball off another groups fairway. It's accepted here. There's a lot of wildlife and the cart girls are on their A game. The only thing this place is missing is a practice chipping green. Great cafe prices too!

Fun, friendly and well maintained.

While sitting at home this Sunday I suddenly had the urge to play a round of golf. Although it was already late in the afternoon I was able to find an affordable tee time for 3:48pm. When I first arrived to the course I noticed that it was clean and there was ample parking. As soon as I stepped into the club house I was greeted with a warm welcome as if they had already knew who I was. I wish I could remember the name of the really nice girl that helped me check in but I apologize my mind was racing as I was excited to play. After I checked in she walked me to the door and pointed me to the group that I would be join and wished me luck on my round of golf. Luckily for me I was paired with a three some that was friendly and enjoyable to play with.
I'm not too sure if it was the friendly environment, the well maintained field or both but I had a awesome day. I ended up shooting a 7 over par with 3 unforgettable birdies. I want to say thank you to the staff of David L. Baker and I will most definitely return!

P.S. To the management staff, please give your praises to the young lady in the clubhouse. She knows how to make new comers feel welcomed and great about exploring someplace new. Thanks again!

Good Practice Course

My wife is a beginner and this is the perfect size course for her. Pace of play was a bit slow, but not horrible. Too many think they can reach the par 4s, so they wait. Should just hit 3 wood and keep it moving. The deal with groupon made it a good value.

Well maintained course at a great price

My first time playing this course and I was impressed...$15 for 18 holes is a great value (twilight rates). Course was well manicured and carts were clean and in good condition.

Only rub was that they turned the lights off while there were still many people on the course...had I not been with someone that knows the course I would have been lost for sure! I don't know how else they could do it but perhaps leave a few lights on that get you back to the clubhouse easily AND safely..

Great time!
