Buenaventura Golf Course
About
Buenaventura Golf Course originally opened in 1932 as a nine-hole course but closed in 2004 for major renovations. The course's original designer, William Bell, was consulted for the redesign. It was transformed into a more challenging course, but the 1930s design features were carefully preserved. The parkland layout may seem short at just over 6,000 yards but like many of the courses from that era, length is not as important as strategy and course management. The strategically placed bunkers have classic shapes that blend seamlessly into the natural environment as though they were carved by the river. The bunkers combined with the fast, sloping greens make the golf course a shot-maker's paradise. One of Buenaventura's most memorable holes is the par-4 13th. It is one of Bell's original designs, an interesting risk-reward opportunity with water along the right.

Online purchase
I had a good time. A good round. And I played with someone new, whom I had a good time with. We exchanged numbers for future play .I bought the round online which I like.
Pretty easy course with a few drive-able greens
This course is pretty fun, especially if you're looking for a low-scoring, confidence boosting round. I've been golfing for about 18 months now and I shot a personal best 83 on this course. A few of the par-4's are less than 300-yards, and with the wind at your back they can be driven from the tee. The greens are incredibly forgiving, not too fast and not too slow, they play at a great speed. Bunkers and tee boxes were well maintained, a couple water hazards spice the course up. Pretty hard to lose balls here, which is nice. $35 to ride is a good deal.
The course is nice
Goos course around the area. Had a lot of fun and enjoyed playing here.
Fun shorter course
Played the Blacks (5826/68.3/117) in 3H. Perfect golf weather, clear, breezy and in the 70's.
For those of you that have played here over the years, the change in this course is remarkable. 5+ years ago, the fairways were consistently a mess. Many different grasses and it was not uncommon to have 1+ fairways having huge sections playing as GUR for months at a time. It has taken a few years for them to fully convert, but today, the Paspalum fairways are nearly immaculate. Like their sister course Olivas, from a distance the fairways almost looks like Astroturf. Lush with almost complete coverage everywhere with good roll out on drives.
The Bermuda tees were in good shape with almost all the divot damage already properly maintained.
The Kikuyu rough is lusher closer to the fairways/greens, thinner the farther you are from the fairway. Some turf reduction wood chip areas around some of the trees and farther away from the fairways on a few holes. Overall, it's not high but it's still Kikuyu. The difference in barely staying in the fairways and getting roll and barely hitting the rough and stopping in the Kikuyu can be 40-50 yards.
The sand traps had nice sand and were decently maintained.
The greens putted medium fast. Relatively smooth and mostly firm, they held approach shots very well.
The customer service was excellent as always here. No drink cart, no GPS on the basic carts but the sprinklers are well marked. Nice snack stand with good burgers and their drinks are good AD. The tree lined fairways with zero houses around are a plus for me. And the trees consistently come into play here. The greens are undulating with crowns and you need to know where to not miss it and shape shots to score well on this shorter course. Definitely recommended.
Buenaventura
Played the Blacks (5826/68.3/117)with GDR23 in clear, fairly calm conditions in the 70's. We played 36 holes as a 2some in 7 hours on a "throwback Monday" that reminded me of when Gary/I did this on a regular basis. Also "throwback" because Gary threw out an 11 birdie 67-69 performance that reminded me of some rounds 10+ years ago we played together.
Buena is a easy course to walk, shorter, few hills, no long walks between tee boxes. Fun, shorter course that is tougher than the scorecard initially indicates because of trees, tightness and the usual 1-2 club ocean breeze. No range, they only have a couple of cages to warm up in.

The rough is mowed down, few lost ball areas which is great for POP. Lusher closer to the fairways/greens, thinner the farther you are from the fairway. Some turf reduction wood chip areas around some of the trees and farther away from the fairways on a few holes.

The greens were much better than last week. Medium fast, relatively smooth and mostly firm, they held approach shots very well.

Nice Course
The conditions are good and this is fun course to play.
I enjoy playing this course!
This course has great holes to challenge and score on. Beautiful fairways and scenery.
Painfully slow
We love golfing here for the cool weather and low prices but it often plays pretty slow. This time it was really bad. They so over booked! A ladies shot gun tournament that tee'd off at 7:30 was still playing when we arrived about 10:45 and there were AT LEAST a half dozen groups waiting on the first tee to tee off. We did not tee off until after 11:30. And we waited on every hole, all day. Took over 5 hours to play. The snack bar is adequate and staff friendly. They were out of most of their bottled drinks but give free refills on the fountain drinks. They don't seem to carry any pre made sandwiches/wraps. It is hard to get anything other than a hot dog at the turn.
ARE YOU KIDDING???
Great little course. Had a blast!! For $15.00 per person, 18 holes and a cart what could be better??? Well, maybe it was also due to my company! Thanks babe for a great day!
great day
Took my wife who played for the 3rd time. The course was beautiful as was the weather. She couldn't believe the price we got on the red hot deal from golf now. She now understands how the time flies when you have fun on the links (:
Thanks for a great day golf now!
Great course
First time playing this course with a buddy. Had such a great time and experience. Fairways were the best I've ever played on and the greens were just as good. Really enjoyed the round and one of the guys in our group even got a hole in one! Very cool to be apart of, friendly people and definitely an experience that I would recommend.
Fun, short public course
Buenaventura's greens are in great shape for a public course. Played y'day ahead of the Memorial Day weekend and city championship. The course is stilll recovering from water damage earlier in the year. It has bounced back well and the recent sodding and renovations (like the pond guarding the green on 13) have smoothed out. Most of the ground under repair is gone. It's a fun track. Long hitters have a few driveable par 4s and 2 of the par 5s are reachable for even modestly long hitters. The back 9 is more challenging than the front, with a couple par 4s that usually play dead into the wind with OB left. Most of the par 3s (there are 5 of them) are short but give good opportunities for closies and holes in one. A fun course thar doesn't demand huge tee shots. Recommend.
Buena is Bueno!
Short track but the conditions Tee to Green was awesome!!!! You still need to be on your game even if it is a short track!
Course has recovered
The locals I was playing with stated that most of the course was under water a few months ago. The greenskeeping staff have done an excellent job as the tee boxes and fairways are in great condition. The greens are near perfect: firm and fast. The course is short in total yards, but the greens have subtle breaks which kept my round challenging.
If your golf game is as good as this review, you should be on tour. Bravo!
