About
Buenaventura Golf Course originally opened in 1932 as a nine-hole course but closed in 2004 for major renovations. The course's original designer, William Bell, was consulted for the redesign. It was transformed into a more challenging course, but the 1930s design features were carefully preserved. The parkland layout may seem short at just over 6,000 yards but like many of the courses from that era, length is not as important as strategy and course management. The strategically placed bunkers have classic shapes that blend seamlessly into the natural environment as though they were carved by the river. The bunkers combined with the fast, sloping greens make the golf course a shot-maker's paradise. One of Buenaventura's most memorable holes is the par-4 13th. It is one of Bell's original designs, an interesting risk-reward opportunity with water along the right.

Course was in great shape, Greens were very friendly (to me anyway).
I’ve played here often and enjoy it very much.
It can get windy and chilly on the back 9.

Fun course
Enjoyable course, flat enough for walking if you're so inclined. Close enough to the ocean to be several degrees cooler than inland locations. Lots of interesting wildlife, including hawks and even one big garter snake
Fairways and greens in good condition
First time playing since the remodel. Quite short even from the black tees but the greens make up for it. Very undulating and quite large. Bunkers in very good shape.
Overall a very decent municipal golf experience.
Punched greens
Course is looking good but reens are still bumpy and slow due to the seasonal punching.
Should be better soon.
Tricky little track
I play it because of the emphasis on short game. Greens are really testing, usually, but were punched. I can dig that but I always enjoy the course. Got a good deal on GolfNow. $21 including cart
Worst course ever
My daughter and I booked a hot deal $36 each. They had just done work on the 1st 9 greens and were working on the 2nd 9 greens. I didn’t know this until I arrived at course. We didn’t know what to expect. When we got to the 1st green it was covered in sand. Impossible to putt. We continued to hole 8 each green covered in sand but not even a flag or hole on 8. After the ninth hole I went to the club house to ask for my money back. The answer was no. Not even a rain check. Very disappointed.
Tight course - position is everything.
Course is tight and you don't need driver on every hole. Position is extremely important.
Greens are in good shape.
Excellent golfnow price.
Terrific but Tough greens.
I really enjoyed the course even the water hazards that caught me not thinking, twice!

Par 3 are short ‘frirst time I play the new lay out I like the old layout better
Relaxing Round
I've golfed here a couple times now and enjoyed myself immensely. The course is well maintained, thought the fairways and greens do seem to retain a lot of moisture. Fairly easy and flat course with more than a few diabolically designed greens(but those can be a very good time as well if you like a challenging put. Staff is very friendly.

What a fun course. Overall in great shape for a public course. Friendly and helpful staff in the pro shop as well as the 19th hole (great cheeseburger and fries!).. Can't beat the weather here, course was not crowded.
Great course for anyone
I absolutely love this course! I grew up playing on this course and the changes/upgrades they've made over the years is excellent. This course has a little bit of everything. If you can play well on this course, then you should be able to play well almost anywhere.
Coarse ranger needed
The group ahead of our foursome kept getting larger. By the time we made it to the 18th we were waiting on 10 players to hit and running out of daylight.
The greens could have been in good shape but I guess nobody had heard of a divot repair tool that day.
Nice course
Greens and fairways are nice, very flat and kind of short. Overall a nice course.
Wide open
Had an 812 tee time and the course was wide open. With all the fires and smoke I guess nobody was golfing except a few diehards like us. Smoke was not bad at all until the 13th hole when the wind switched then it slowly got dark for about 1/2 hour the it switched again and ended up a nice day. Course is in great shape, greens are rolling smooth fairways are nice and lush. Staff as always were awesome.
Good layout
Course has a good layout, challenging and forgiving at the same time. Always enjoyed playing this course, great for dialing in your iron play..
