About
Buenaventura Golf Course originally opened in 1932 as a nine-hole course but closed in 2004 for major renovations. The course's original designer, William Bell, was consulted for the redesign. It was transformed into a more challenging course, but the 1930s design features were carefully preserved. The parkland layout may seem short at just over 6,000 yards but like many of the courses from that era, length is not as important as strategy and course management. The strategically placed bunkers have classic shapes that blend seamlessly into the natural environment as though they were carved by the river. The bunkers combined with the fast, sloping greens make the golf course a shot-maker's paradise. One of Buenaventura's most memorable holes is the par-4 13th. It is one of Bell's original designs, an interesting risk-reward opportunity with water along the right.

One of my new favorite tracks in Ventura!
I’ve played a few courses in Camarillo and Oxnard in the past, but I’d never had the opportunity to play this course. My group and I were pleasantly surprised on how much we enjoyed, just about every facet of our round. Let me first say the staff was very friendly when we checked. The course was in great condition and the pace of play was excellent, especially considering it was a Saturday morning. It played a little shorter then the tracks I usually play, but the greens were challenging. On course staff was A+. All in all, was an awesome time and I’ll definitely be including this course in our rotation!
Great outing
Course is is in really good condition, greens were fast, had a great time.
Consistently good course
Greens are in good shape after punching a few weeks ago and fairways are a little better than comparable muni courses.
Staff and service are always good. Golfers should note that Buena’s layout isn’t all that complex and it’s fairly short yardage (blue is comparable to White elsewhere, and even black is a modest length blue at most other courses). Still, it’s nut an executive length course and always fun to play.
Nice Course- Greens still recovering from punching
As always a nice course and cooperative staff.
Greens were still pretty bumpy from punching earlier this month. Some very bumpy putts.
Great Budget Course - Needs a Marshall
Course was fun and greens were in good shape. But too many people jumping around different holes and we ended up waiting to tee off numerous times - or had other golfers breathing down our neck. Hopefully they get a Marshall soon to get the groupings under more control.
Greens punched - needs more time
Overall decent value but the greens were punched at end of March and still pretty chapped. Needs a few more weeks before they're back rollin better. Take out some of the break as they roll straighter than they look right now. Your welcome!
