Buenaventura Golf Course
About
Buenaventura Golf Course originally opened in 1932 as a nine-hole course but closed in 2004 for major renovations. The course's original designer, William Bell, was consulted for the redesign. It was transformed into a more challenging course, but the 1930s design features were carefully preserved. The parkland layout may seem short at just over 6,000 yards but like many of the courses from that era, length is not as important as strategy and course management. The strategically placed bunkers have classic shapes that blend seamlessly into the natural environment as though they were carved by the river. The bunkers combined with the fast, sloping greens make the golf course a shot-maker's paradise. One of Buenaventura's most memorable holes is the par-4 13th. It is one of Bell's original designs, an interesting risk-reward opportunity with water along the right.

Great condition
Course looked great and better than I remember. There’s lots of green all over and the greens were great!
Great golf day
The weather was perfect, the course was in really good shape, and my golf partner shot an Ace on the first par three!
Great value
This course is a gem. Very green year round. Really good sand quality. Not the dirt junk that a lot of other courses have in their ‘sand traps’, but real playable sand.
It’s a terrific walking course.
The greens are in great shape and pretty fast-fun fun fun.
Finally, it’s reasonably priced and the staff are nice people who want you to enjoy the experience.
I’ll see ya there!

Pace of play is satisfactory. Met nice folks to play with and the staff is friendly.
Good Course which is in Good Conditions
Really enjoy my round the first 9 pace of play was less than 2 hour, 2nd nine was incredible slow.
A gem of a course
Here on business and needed to scratch the golf itch. Looked up local public courses and landed on Buenaventura. I knew it was public course set amidst industrial, commercial and agricultural land - my expectations were only that it was going to be affordable and fun. Even rolling up to the parking lot: the clubhouse and grill don't stand out much.
But, wow the course exceeded my expectations by miles! Turf was in excellent condition, greens were tight and fast (today). The level of challenge varies so you're not constantly frustrated or bored. A couple of longer crushable par 5s with wide fairways. I had the most fun on the super short par 3s, some rife with bunkers and water - let you easily feel like a hero if you land it on, or close to, the green.
The greens themselves present some interesting problems. A lot of public courses in this price range have flat, or slightly breaking two dimensional greens. Buenaventura definitely has three dimensional rolling greens with some steep drops on multiple sides. I feel like these are a little harder to maintain (drain, mow, aerate) so was more than a little surprised and delighted to play them.
Service was great. Pace of play: I didn't feel rushed or slowed at any time (twilight on a weekday, for what that's worth). I rented clubs which the gentleman at the pro shop admitted "were pretty bad" - I knew what I was getting into and the rental set was just fine. Some of the grips could use replacing, but the only club I didn't really like was the putter. Mainly because it wasn't MY putter - purely personal preference moreso than other clubs in our bags.
If I lived nearby, this would definitely be my home course. Will play again next time I'm in town. Sadly, did not get to try the grill but the folks there seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Challenging course
Not a long course but with tight pins this is a challenging track! Enjoy
Nice course first time playing it paired up with another gentleman had a great time
