Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Fun course
Fairways and greens were fantastic shape. Fun links course
Great discount
So... I gotta great discount and played this course for $3.49. At that price it could of been a kitty litter box and worth it. Good links style, snobby members for the men's club who take up all the morning rounds. It's lousy their clubhouse is a travel trailer and the same for their crappers. The homeless guy on 16 throwing golf balls at folks was a nice touch.
Solid
One of the better courses I’ve played in SoCal over the past year. Well maintained, beautifully green and most bunkers allowed proper bunker play rather than having to pick it off concrete sand. Speaking of greens, they are fast, again well maintained and in some instances, entirely sadistic. HALF of my card was putts. Half. I had 12 more putts than a normal round - so ya, I shot 95. Be prepared but man they are a lot of fun and a great test. It’s links style so it’s very gettable even if you miss off the tee minus a few holes that had tough tree placement and hairpin turns into the pin.
In decent shape
Course was very playable. Greens not so fast, very firm andfast enough. Good coverage on tees and fairways. Bunkers are a hit or miss as they get watered with the course so they can get crusty hard. Sometimes the fairways can be a bit moist underneath abs can cause mud balls, which I had on a couple occasions. Not much roughy to speak of, and some rough areas that used to be grass is now mostly the sand layer with shaggy bits of grass here and there.
The driving range is on mats still, and the mats are nothing like the course grass so beware.
The putting and chipping areas are nice, glad we get to use them.
They need to clean out the bathroom next to the shop. It’s pretty embarrassing, that thing.
Nice shape
Tees good, fairways good, greens nice. The only slight knock would be the bunkers. They can be crusty because they don’t always water the course before they rake. In other words the bunkers get flattened and a bit firm and crusty as they use the sprinklers in the morning for the whole course but don’t rake the bunkers to fluff them up after the water has hit them all. So the bunkers can be hit and miss.
The fairways were a tad moist today. Actually had mud balls a couple times in the middle of the fairway after good drives.
Front 9 greens were way faster and firmer than the back. So that inconsistency might cost you if you’re not careful.
Other than that weather was great without much wind, but just enough to get you on a couple holes today.
Great course
First time playing. Loved the course. Played in 3.5 hours. I only wish I could make a tee time more often but they are always booked and even if you log in at the earliest time possible, it’s booked. Not sure why.
Front 9 twice?
We booked with no knowledge that the greens were punched and that we’d have to play the front 9 twice. When I commented about it to the staff, they said, “well maybe you should have called first, then you would have known.” What? Who calls before their round just to check on conditions? Very rude customer service
"not sure why"
It's because Olivas is one of the most popular courses in Ventura County.
