Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Great round, great course, great weather
Course in great shape. Pace of play excellent. And much cooler here on a very hot day.
Fun course!
This was my first time at Olives. Won’t be my last. The weather is second to none with a steady ocean breeze. The fairways are wide but if you miss them it’s punitive. Large greens in good shape. The staff was friendly. Only small knock was pace of play was a tad slow. Overall expect a great time.
Tall weeds and slow play seniors
Somehow my Golfnow tee time was right in the middle of the mens senior group. The course blamed golfnow and I'm sure golfnow would blame the course. We were able to get out behind the senior group, about half an hour after the original time. They play like they own the place, no one from the course for pace of play, so it took awhile to play, about 45 minutes longer than normal. The course is in great condition. but the areas off the rough they consider native area, which is just old grass and weeds from the course before it was redesigned is way too long and unplayable, if you hit one in there you're not going to find it, also slows down play.with people looking for their ball.
Overall I'll pass on this course.
Aerated greens- no problem!!
Olivas is a great golf course. They aerated greens the night before but the greens were still playable and rolled and broke pretty close to normal. Excellent work by the greenskeeper and crew! Greens kept everyone away and that's too bad as golfers missed a great day on an empty course. Their loss. Play this course and support your local munis through thick and thin.
3 1/2 hour pace of play
We had a 716 Golf Now tee time. Arrived at 620. Reed off at 630. Finished about 10. Fairways were a little thin. Greens were perfect. Love the course and the pace of play
Great layout, beautiful weather!
Got out to this course for the first time with my bud, who told me it was a great course. Man was he right! From the beginning at the range, able to hit off the grass?! whaaaaaat! Nice chipping area just behind it, and a great couple of massive putting greens with all types of undulations. They do have food and snacks in the bungalow golf shop, and cold brews as well. Great fairways to land and hit on, must avoid hazards, they are hard to get out of or even find your ball if you hit it in the long rough, watch your ball all the way if you sway the wrong way! Great greens, nice check up on greens because it rained the day before, but still rolled fairly well. Pretty open but you still have to be accurate where you want to land for your approach. Anyways thanks for having me, I had a great time and would come back most definitely.
Bad Pace of Play
First time at this course after hearing a lot of recommendations. Conditions were pretty good but the greens were excellent. Good speed and ran true. Course has a fun layout and isn’t too gimmicky. I would love to play this course more often although probably won’t unless I am first out on the day because the pace of play was awful. 5 and a half hour round teeing off shortly after noon and barely finished at sunset. Never had more than 1 group on a tee box but we waited 10 minutes at every tee and on every shot. Golf really isn’t fun when people are inconsiderate and take as long as they want to play. You don’t need to rush but it’s not difficult to play at a reasonable pace.
Another beautiful day in socal
Just another beautiful morning. Met a couple guys and had a great morning. Course was in great shape.
Best Public Course in Ventura County for the Money
This course is hard to beat in terms of course conditions but when you factor in price it's the best in Ventura County. Pace of play is dependent on the day, I've got through the course in 2.5 hours but a quick pace is usually 3.5hrs, normal is around the 4hr mark but sometimes it gets backed up and can take longer. Nice driving range, 2 chipping areas, one flat, one with holes and a bunker to practice out of. Large putting green. Snack bar is lacking, the hot chocolate is good though! Beverage/snack cart is rarely on the course.
Course is well maintained, not a country club nice but I've seen it close to CC conditions in 2018.. Fairways have nice grass, there is a second cut, and then some serious rough outside of that. Greens are always super nice, and pin placements change. Playing on days there have been tournaments can be challenging due to pin placements, they don't mess around sometimes. Par 3's are challenging but fair, par 5's are the same. Last par 5 is reachable in 2 with a couple good swings, nice way to end a round!
If you haven't played the course you're missing out. Just make sure to not hold up pace of play :D
course in great condition
first time golfing this course nice smooth a little narrow for me lost quite a few shots as im still trying to refine my game was shooting in the 120 now in the 95-105 range once i get swing and grip figured out .... oh no!!!
had a great time shot a 99 the other guys in my group liked it too looking forward to golfing there again
Excellent Course Conditions on Challenging Layout.
Beautiful links-like layout near ocean in Ventura / Oxnard. Wind is typically a factor. Greens are typically fast and challenging. Premium on accuracy off tees and into greens. Clubhouse and bathrooms are (very nice) trailers with beer and shop amenities but this track is all about the amazing course and layout. Bring an extra ball or four...
Favorite VC course!
Played last Sunday; after 3 days of rain. Course in terrific condition. Tee boxes level and perfect. Fairways are a pleasure to hit from; no guessing how the flight of your ball will be! Greens very receptive to a high incoming approach shot. Pace of play was under 4 hours. Friendly staff as usual. I would play here 7 days a week if i could! Awesome views of the snow capped mountains to the North!
Challenging when wind blows
I like Olives Links. It’s an course that makes you play all your clubs. From the tips, it’s definitely challenging but scoring opportunities are abundant. Greens are solid but could be faster. A little too soft and balls never roll out. Pace is good in the morning. Forget it after 8am, you’ll be out there all day. Nice practice facilities but no real clubhouse or drink cart.
Back 9 & Breakfast!
Snagged the "Back 9 & Breakfast" deal - the perfect way to get your golf fix, socialize with friends, and get home for the rest of your day with family (or football!). And for $27, it's a major score.
Teed off at 8:04 & finished in 2 hours, and didn't feel anyone in front of us or behind, which is a huge part of the experience. The course is in super shape, and being able to soak in sunrise over the driving range from 10 tee is my version of Church.
Post-round, your tasty breakfast burrito is just a short hop down the road at Buenaventura GC. Yes, that's a little weird, but totally forgotten as you unwind with 2 tv's playing the morning NFL games with a face full of pretty great grub..
Look, I loved every bit of it, and so will you. But, do me a favor - please don't ruin this little slice of heaven by booking all the tee times.
