Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Punched Greens
Beautiful day. Nice breeze. Good layout. Greens were bumpy as they were punched 3 weeks ago.
Best value golf course.
Olivas Links is one of my favorite golf course in Ventura County. Tuesday special @ $39 w/ cart; friendly staff; outstanding & demanding golf course + perfect weather. I highly recommend it!
Good value
Paid a great price to play an above-average course. But neither the booking website nor the course website nor the pro shop indicated that the greens had recently been punched, which was quite disappointing.
Good Value
The course was a lot of fun. Pace was great. People were nice. I’ll play there again.
Easter Sunday Diasapointment
Have played this course many times, but here we were on Easter Sunday, with very few players, so the pace of play was good. But the course conditions were not. The course itself has little to be desired anymore. The off rough areas look like they haven't had maintenance of any kind for quite a while. Bare, weedy patches, and little to enjoy visually And don't get your ball off the fairway. The Fairways weren't much better, Moderate at best for play. One PLUS "sandy bunkers". They had NO WATER in the Water Bin on the course, not even the container itself.
Olivas Links
A very playable course.
Not too challenging from the Whites, mopre challenging from the Blues due to some narrow Fairways. Grass was in good shape, Greens had just been punched but still putted well.
Great value for your money
Always enjoy playing this course. It’s easy to walk. The views are pretty. Nice driving range and putting green. Highly recommend it.
Olivas Links
Played 36 holes from the Blues (6530/71.6/127) in a little less than 8H with GDR23 as a 2some in the morning, then we played as a 4some in the afternoon. The conditions were overcast, around 65 and breezy.
Granted, we just had several days in a row of rain and the paspalum grass isn't meant to be a great winter grass. However, while the conditions were not bad, this is probably the poorest condition I have seen Olivas in since the renovation over a decade ago.
The tees were mostly lush with only the par 3's needing divot attention.
The fairways were soft and mostly dormant looking. They played better than they looked.
The rough around the fairway is semi lush. Farther off the fairway you encounter much less really deep rough than you used to here, much of the really deep rough has been mowed down low. Still some hardpan areas in the secondary rough and some knee deep areas here and there.
The traps have good sand and would probably be well above average when they dry out after the rains.
The greens were medium slow speed and bumpy for Olivas. Softer than usual, which produced footprints and ball marks in excess on many greens.
Minimal food & drink available onsite, the no frills pro shop is in a trailer. No GPS on carts, usually no drink cart, so plan ahead if you need food/beverage. Customer service excellent as always. Recommended, one of my favorite layouts.
Always a great play
Always a good course to play. Fun layout with challenging holes.
A Challenging Little Treat
Played this course perhaps two dozen times and always enjoy it. The various tees are far enough from each other to offer a challenge regardless of the tee box one chooses. The course is also eminently walkable and the greens are always in great shape. The fairways do get a little ragged at various times of the year but this is Southern California and rainfall is often difficult to come by. But, Olivas Links is always a first tier choice when in the Ventura neighborhood.
Visiting from Scotland!
I spent a very pleasant golfing afternoon in good company on this links style course. Good pace of play. Keep it up!
Golf Cart issues
I want to advise everyone who wants to play Olivas links and wishes to use a cart, I would seriously consider playing another course. Here is the reason. The carts are old and the batteries are shot and I mean shot.
I went thru 2 carts before the 17th hole. The first cart lasted until the 10th green and died, then 5 holes later the 2nd cart died. The City of Ventura now has extended the Leases on them will not get new carts for another year or so. I would hate to guess how long it will be before the batteries will be changed out.
It is a shame and it not the way a golf course should be run. Almost everyone I have spoken with has had the similar situation, even the employees stated their carts have died too. The sad part of this is, the cart guys have to continuously change out the carts. Not good I sincerely hope this message gets to Eric Burton's attention and take aggressive action to correct this massive problem. We will not play there until this problem has been corrected. This will cost the City of Ventura $$$$ if the local golfers stop playing the course. Don't get me wrong I love the course and the layout but when you have to push a cart from the green to the next tee that is not a good example of a great golf course
Good Links Course
Large smooth and fast greens. Like the fairways because they have a little cushion to them , make chipping around greens easier. Not much scenery and flat ( links) but we have played it several times and will come back..
One of the best courses I’ve played!!!
We booked the hot deal on line and decided to make the trip from Valencia to Ventura for the 645 tee time! Wow was it worth it. Course was beautiful as was the wheather. We were paired with another two some who were nice enough guys and played real well. We had a great round and can’t wait to go back
