Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Course is well maintained. It’s a walker’s pace; if you’re in a cart it might be a little slow. Still played in under 4:20. Bev cart could be a little more frequent.
Great Muni in Ventura CA
The design was a lot of fun to play and the greens were rolling true. Nice and wide open should be a nice test for all skill levels. If Ventura ever built a beautiful clubhouse with some nice amenities, this place could be really sweet. For now just a great golf track.
Great links style layout!
Fun course that you will be able to use a variety of clubs. Greens were very fast and true!
Nice Muni, Nice Value
Didn’t look like the photos beOmg a dormant Bermuda grass course, but the layout is very nice and staff was excellent. I’d play again
Good time away
It was good to play a round here since I played here a couple of years ago. By the way, the condition of the fairway was pretty bad. Everything was very brown due to the drought, I believe. It was alright but I don’t know if I want to come back any time soon.
Course in great shape
The course was in great shape. Fairways had plenty of grass and not too many divots. Greens were plenty fast may a 10. It was definitely worth the drive.
VENTURA (THOMAS FIRES)
Made a reservation the night before...HOT DEAL. But woke up to AIR QUALITY ISSUES. Course was open, and GOLF NOW would not let me cancel. So wide open (EMPTY), when I got there. Starter said go when you are ready, Teed off, ran into a group at 3rd hole, by passed them. As I got to the 2nd/9th hole interchange, and saw NO ONE on 1st tee so I played 2nd thru 8 again. Air because it was near the coast stay well. But guys were wearing AIR filter masks. Played about 32 holes in all, just circling back since it was so empty.. Good links course #16 hole one of the toughest, Something about HOLE 16 at VENTURA city courses ( BUENAVENTURA) both long tough par 4's. And Par 3's, you CAN use the same club on 3 of the 4 holes, and then one is totally different. Great practice facilities, but food - starving time.
Great course
Reserved a 2:04 tee time on golf now and scored a deal. Was able to get done with all 18 holes even though pace of play was a bit slow. Course was in good condition and greens rolled nicely. Definitely going to be looking forward to another round here soon.
Fairways are nice and the greens are rolling smoothly . As always staff is awesome. Not that many golfers out probably because of the smoke but it wasn’t that bad. Be back soon!
Slow play
It was a beautiful day. The course looked amazing as always. Not having a marshal on the course to speed up the pace of play, made it hard to get in a groove. The group in front of use, was a full two holes behind. It took use over 5 hours to play 18 holes. Having to wait on every tee box and every second shot the whole round was frustrating.
Worth every penny
Fun course, nice driving Ranch and practice area, horrible club house and restroom.
Olivas is a hidden gem
This course is like playing golf in the Serengeti! Long beautiful plains with canopy pine trees and high grass borders. Play in the late afternoon and you will be amazed at the colors. Finish with dinner at the harbor and you have the perfect golf day!
