Edgewater Golf Club
About
Edgewater Golf Club has a peaceful setting tucked away in Lancaster. The course feels completely secluded with a layout that tumbles across rolling hills covered with a blanket of matures trees. The terrain is as scenic as it is challenging, providing the layout with dramatic elevation changes and plenty of water. In addition to the natural hazards, there are numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. An abundance of wildlife also calls the golf course home, so don't be surprised if you see deer or turkeys roaming the course. One of Edgewater Golf Club's most memorable holes is the par-4 seventh. This tricky hole is a downhill dogleg left that forces you to drive right-center of the fairway, followed by a tough approach to a green that sits on the bank above Fishing Lake Creek.

Great track but golf now prices are weird
Course was awesome and in very good condition. The rough was a little bit thin so if you hit it there you did risk a hard bounce away from the fairway which happened to me a few times. Greens look a little spotty but rolled great. The prices were so confusing to me though. I booked a 3 person tee time for 1:10 through the edgewater website for $143. I had to reschedule it to move it up an hour, had to call golf now to do that. Golf now had a hot deal going on which I thought would make it cheaper. But I was charged $193 for that one. There was a $25 cart fee and a $10 convenience fee but my price still increased by $50, with the hot deal? Maybe I’m missing something. Great track and I’ll play there again but just pay attention to the booking.
Want to Place the Course Not Buy it!
Have played this course off and on since it opened and it is in the worst shape ever. Greens are terrible. And lots of other challenges too. You can lose a ball on multiple fairways. Not sure what happened but there are far too many courses in this area to spend money there until they can fix their issues.
We apologize for you having a bad playing experience. Our greens or not a the conditions we normally provide but we having taken all possible steps to make recovery. The rest of the course conditions are in great shape and we’re expecting the greens to be caught up with it going into the winter.
Big Putter
A lot of improvement in the works, which means the cost of a round here will go up.

Poa Annua Taking Over
This is usually my go to course. I was very disappointed. The greens are pretty swamped with Poa Annua, making smooth putts difficult. I wouldn’t waste my time or money there at the moment. One worker said they were going to aerate in a couple if months (not sure if true). There are many other courses in the area that are better at the moment.

Conditions and pace of play
The greens...awful...squishy soft, full of weeds, and full of huge ball marks. Tee boxes are rock hard and in some cases bare of any grass.
Pace of play was silly slow. The Rangers, while friendly, were not enforcing anything.

Overall great course!
The layout and conditions were great. The greens were rolling good even though there were a bunch of ball marks. Definitely would recommend playing this course.
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating! We're delighted you enjoyed your round and found the course conditions to your liking. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Edgewater Golf Club!
What Happened to This Course?
Have played this course quite a few times and it was our favorite in the Charlotte area. Played yesterday and the greens were terrible. These used to be the best greens around. Lots of grass that needs to be cut and it just has fallen a long way from where it was a couple of months ago. Sad.

Moderately disappointed
The course was soggy from all the recent rains. This also meant it had not been mowed in several days. There were places on fairways where the ball was hidden in the grass, you can imagine finding a ball in some of the roughs.
I like the course and will play it again but not until I think course conditions are not more normal. It is not a good value in its current condition.

Ain’t what she used to be.
Fairways and rough are in good shape. The greens are not,
Bent grass mixed with something else, ball marks, and bald spots. Would be a nice round if the greens were fixed.

How far it’s fallen!
The bad: Slow play with rangers who acknowledged the slow play yet did nothing was incredible. We were stacked at every tee box with a 4hr41 minute pace? The two in my group left after 13 holes! The greens need attention but it seems many in the area have had a rough season.
The good: layout, fairways, staff & a promising future. I’ll give em 4 more years & hopefully the facilities will be complete & mature

Changes needed
Great, challenging layout. Would not go back in the middle of August. Course is tightly lined with think pine trees so no air moves at all. Biggest thing they need to do is convert to a Bermuda on their greens. Just no way a course in Lancaster, SC can expect to keep any type of Bent in good condition. The greens were horrendous and it’s not all because ball marks aren’t repaired. The grass doesn’t grow enough for them to heal even after you repair them. Way too hot for Bent
Hello, DHovis5514. Thank you for visiting us at Edgewater Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Good course for the price.
Had a good experience here, enjoyed the layout liked the front 9 a lot. Got caught behind some slow people on the back so probably why didn’t like it as much. No driving range right now but looks like they are building a new clubhouse and driving range across the road, the place will be state of the art in 3 years. Fun course though really enjoyed it. Will be back!
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating! We're delighted you enjoyed the layout and appreciate your patience with the pace of play. We look forward to welcoming you back to experience our new facilities in the future!
Overpriced
The greens are in the worst shape for what they charge it’s very overpriced. Maybe after they fix the driving range, and finish building a new clubhouse they’ll get to work on the greens. Also they need a new fleet of golf carts too, and after they do all those upgrades they’d want $75 a round.
We're sorry to hear that the greens and pricing did not meet your expectations; we are working on improvements and appreciate your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
Great layout and value
It’s a little bit of a drive for most people, but Edgewater is well worth it. Nice layout and mix of holes. Some really challenging holes that play fine if you know where to hit it; they are putting in a new clubhouse and that should look great once done; The last par three is beautiful and challenging, par there is a good score. You have room to hit a lot of drivers but can lay back as well. Make sure you play different tees if you play more than once because you get some different looks and ways to play some of the holes.
Condition is very good and the people there are very nice. I’ve played there about ten times and the pace of play has been good.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Edgewater Golf Club.
Maintenance delays
I love this course. However on this particular day maintenance was either way behind schedule or just not caring about play. They were aerating greens and the back 9 was not ready. Holes not cut, greens not ready, etc.
We thank you for choosing Edgewater Golf Club for your round of golf. Greens are only aerated twice a year in March and October. We do, however, vent the Bent grass greens as it is a necessary cultural practice to sustain the cool season grass throughout the warm months. These holes are visible for a few days but are not large enough to affect putting. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to see you again soon.
