Edgewater Golf Club

Course was great except the greens are not in good condition. Some greens are hardly playable, but the fairways and tee boxes were in great shape.

We were looking for a course in between Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC to meet family to play a round. This course is almost exactly between these two cities and we found a hidden gem. The course is really nice. Many of the reviews are calling out the shape of the greens but the course has acknowledged they are not in the shape they’d like, but they did not hinder our play. They have some rough spots but generally they are in nice shape and roll true. The course layout is challenging but good for all levels of play. It’s a fairly tight course with most of the fairways being tree lined but the course itself is very playable. The staff is amazing. Very friendly and helpful. It’s obvious that they are investing in this course with a beautiful new clubhouse being built and a lot of improvements apparent with fresh sod and new tee boxes on the practice area. We will make this a regular stop when meeting our family to play golf!!

Greens have definitely seen better days. A lot of divots and roots. Course layout was great and I’m sure the course is worth 77$ most of the time but with everything on the greens, they should absolutely hike the price down.

Came to this course 4 months ago and it was one of the best in the greater Charlotte area, with so much promise with all the new construction.

The staff is wonderful, layout is great cause of the challenge it gives you. Just hard to really be excited about a good shot when the greens and tee boxes are in the shape they’re in. Seems like they’ve done nothing to stop any weed growth, and every single green has at least one dead spot, or half the entire thing.

If you’re further than a 35 minute drive I would not recommend it until they give some sort of sign of care towards the greens

Jon7697153 (previous review) is dead wrong. I was never promised a free round. I’m pretty sure “jon” is affiliated with Old Sycamore and just wants to see edgewater go out of business. Don’t listen to him or her.

The poor reviews of their green conditions are waayy over exaggerated. The course is still in great shape and definitely playable. The small weeds that are present on a few of the greens don’t affect the roll. Still a great course, especially for the price. Don’t listen to the negative reviews. The blemishes on a few of the greens won’t affect your game.

It pains me to write this because I’ve played here a dozen times and loved it….until now. The greens have been taken over by crab grass and are HORRIBLE! There were 4 groups in front of us on a Wednesday at 11:00 and we were 4 deep on half the front 9. Ranger did nothing to help. We finally just went around them at 8 and the back 9 was wide open. Fairways were scorched and the t boxes were in pretty bad shape. Better get this sorted before the new club house opens next summer. It was so bad I won’t go back until next fall. Sorry.

I have played the course many times. Love the layout. Very nice staff. My foursome teed off at 7:20 to try to get my round in early on a Sunday. Group in front of us may have never played before? Waited every tee shot and every second shot to the green. No Marshall on the course but we asked a marshall to help us play through at the ninth hole. Marshall said he would take care of it and ask the group to skip a hole. They didn’t. We asked a Marshall again on eleven and he said he took care of it. We saw the Marshall again at fourteen and asked for help. Never got to play through and the group never sped up or skipped a hole. 5:20 minute round of golf. The greens are gone? I don’t know what happened to them . They used to be so nice. The greens keeper should be let go. The have reduced the size of the greens and they ha e weeds and bare spots. I mean a real tragedy. This was a really nice course. I would calm and ask the condition of the course before playing it. I played with family and was pretty embarrassed. No Marshall on the course. No cart girl on the course. Used to be really nice. Maybe next year. But it’s only going to get worse this year.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing the course, as did my other group members. I'm very disappointed in Golf Now that there exists a senior rate but it was not offered at the time of booking. I would ask that Golf Now Make the senior rate available in their booking system and have it available offered at the time of booking.

Overall - Edgewater is a great golf course and I'd highly recommend the drive to play it. My only criticism would be - if you book your round through their website via Golf Now - it does not offer the available "senior" rate for play. I inquired into the rate when checking in - and the woman (did not note her name) kind of laughed and said "yes we do offer one, and no you don't get it because you booked it through their web site, via Golf Now, ha ha ha...". I didn't find it funny. It is too bad when a vendor offers a price break but won't allow it when requested. The message is book all of your rounds via the telephone and the pro shop.

Course was awesome and in very good condition. The rough was a little bit thin so if you hit it there you did risk a hard bounce away from the fairway which happened to me a few times. Greens look a little spotty but rolled great. The prices were so confusing to me though. I booked a 3 person tee time for 1:10 through the edgewater website for $143. I had to reschedule it to move it up an hour, had to call golf now to do that. Golf now had a hot deal going on which I thought would make it cheaper. But I was charged $193 for that one. There was a $25 cart fee and a $10 convenience fee but my price still increased by $50, with the hot deal? Maybe I’m missing something. Great track and I’ll play there again but just pay attention to the booking.

Have played this course off and on since it opened and it is in the worst shape ever. Greens are terrible. And lots of other challenges too. You can lose a ball on multiple fairways. Not sure what happened but there are far too many courses in this area to spend money there until they can fix their issues.
