Gus Wortham Park Golf Course
About
Texas' oldest existing 18-hole track was originally built in 1908 to serve members of Houston Country Club. When the club found a new location in the 1950s, Gus Wortham bought the facility and opened it to the public with $60 annual dues. The city of Houston took over in 1973, and it's been one of the busiest courses in the state ever since.
The unique design features a trio of par 5s on holes 2-4, a rarity in golf. One of the better birdie opportunities is the 293-yard No. 9. On the back, one of Texas' signature par 3s awaits in the 250-yard No. 16.
Getting there : From I-45, take the Wakeside Blvd. Exit and travel 1 mile north to Capitol St.

Amazing tournament conditioned course
Haven’t played this course since they did the multi-million dollar renovation and I wasn’t disappointed. Shorter distance course that will challenge you around the green. Green’s are in excellent shape and our rolling true. Most approaches are well protected with multiple green side bunkers. If you haven’t played this one and you live in HTown you are definitely missing out. Great value as well! Will be back for sure.
Nice improvements
Course is in great early spring condition. Front 9 greens are bumpy in need of sanding. You can tell there is a lot of 9 hole play. The back 9 complete opposite of front. Greens were very good just tad slow. The bunkers need even out. The sides of the bunkers have plenty sand and the bottoms have little. I hit liner on #2&3 fairway and #4 green side. Normally I would never reach the bunkers but the fairways are so hard the ball would roll an extra 20 yards.
Glad to see the driveway has most of the holes filled in and the beginning of a clubhouse is being constructed. Great improvement from last time I played. Can’t wait to smell tacos cooking coming up #9 again. Mmm getting hungry just thinking about it.
Gus is in Good Shape
Gus was a busy place for a Monday. But the pace did improve after the turn. The course is in good shape and greening up nicely. The fairways are hard and fast and the greens were holding shots even though a lot of ball marks are not getting fixed. Carts are clean and starter was friendly. Parking lot was full. Looks like clubhouse construction has begun with a slab poured
Great golf value
For the money cannot be beat ! Greens and fairways in great shape. Amenities are poor but they are working on it. No beer or ice when I played which is unbelievable at a course.
Another day, more spam emails...
I'm looking foward to the day when the spam stops...
Great Course with great greens
Really enjoy playing this course. In really good shape and the greens are great. Could use a Marshall on the weekends
Another day...another 2 requests for a review.
Someone please tell me how to get these idiots to stop spamming me.
Round was fine, a million follow up emails suck
At least 2 emails a day asking for me to review the course is excessive. If I wanted to review it, I would have done so with the first email. The excessive spamming me after that is enough to make me never go back. Is is the fault of Gus Wortham or GolfNow? I don't know, but after 3 calls to GolfNow I'm still getting spam emails asking for a review, so I thought I'd give a one star review with each email I receive.
GolfNow is a master Spammer
I've gotten about 20 emails ... at least 2 a day to go review this course after playing it. I didnt want to review the course, but since the only way to stop this frustrating spam is to review the course, I'll give it all 1 stars for everything. GOLFNOW...YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun course
I play here once a month, the course never disappoints and we always have a good time!
Great golf course
Only thing missing is a grill for hotdogs or hamburgers.
