Good course, testing in parts, nice layout, conditions during the drought made difficult, interesting start with 3 par 3’s in the first 5 holes, ideally spread more apart.

The challenge of water

A beautiful, peaceful course with stunning scenery and a real feel good factor. Some challenging holes next to & over water which were a surprise as we had not played there before so a few balls went in there !

Some interesting holes that needed tactical play so will remember that for when we play again .

A nice drink in the sports bar on return , we had the course practically to ourselves, so no rush , a lovely day out .

Lots of works and a strange layout

I played Aldwark several times in the past with the previous course layout and I preferred it to the new course. If the 17th is anything to go by, then is a bang average course and although I enjoyed it over the river for the majority, it is spoiled by the amounts of works going on currently. I look forward to returning once the works are complete, although I get a sense they will begin to over charge at that point. It has an air of Rudding Park about it. Overall, average course, well maintained and great greens, relatively challenging holes, with a few poorly laid out holes. 3-4 stars.

Very enjoyable

Played in march so still a winter course with tees on mats and aereation holes on the greens, and one temp green due to refurb work on the main green. No complaints - it"s winter golf and the course needs maintaining, hence the bargain price.

That said, its a nice track, laid out around the river with 3 x par 5s and 5 x par 3s. Mostly flat, so the hole shapes pose the challenge, with a couple of sneaky hidden bunkers and a pond. The last few holes make for a really interesting and very enjoyable finish. We all agreed we'd happily return.

Aldwark Manor

I had heard great things about this course but I was very disappointed! It starts with 2 par 3’s which you have to walk quite a distance to get to the second. The main issue was the greens, poor, poor condition, patchy and unplayable. It’s felt like a course that needed investment and was there as a secondary feature to the hotel. We won’t be playing again.

Hidden little gem 💎

Played this course for the first time. I’d heard it’d had a re-design so difficult to comment on whether or not that has improved the overall layout of the course. It was a very foggy and grim winters day but that didn’t dampen our spirits. Each hole provided a different challenge, especially starting with 2 x par 3’s to commence the round. A decent chance to get two early birdies/pars on the card. There are some well placed, huge fairway bunkers on some holes to contend with as well as plenty of tricky water hazards to shoot over which I really enjoyed. The greens were ok-good for this time of year and held up pretty well. Following the round, into the excellent clubhouse bar, a good selection of beers, free pool and TV’s everywhere with wall to wall sport. The food looked decent too but we didn’t have time to stay for something to eat. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, good value for money and looking forward to playing the course again in the summer.

Nice afternoon golf

A great afternoon was spent playing the new layout at Aldwark Manor. The course is a nice balance of straight forward, challenging and a couple of utterly terrifying holes. The sun was shining and the course was in good condition. Some of the new holes will benefit from a winter to really establish themselves but the grounds team are doing a good job.

Excellent course after redesign

Played for second time after new layout of course and it is excellent and well thought out especially the drive over the river which I always thought should have been done before and the new 15th over the lake . Only issue was a very slow 4ball in front with a lady who had never played before. However we remained patient and enjoyed all the free balls they left us and when we got back to the clubhouse they bought us a round of drinks

Horrendous

Start with two par three’s about half a mile apart. (Not an exaggeration.

Greens and fairways a disgrace

Complained to pro “what do you want me to do about it “

Just avoid. Even if it was in good nik a b poor layout with numerous silly holes . 18th is spectacularly bad
