Disappointing
I have played here before several times and really liked the course but today thought the course was in need of a good haircut. The rough in particular was extremely long and thick and looked in some parts as if it hadn’t been cut in weeks. Will probably not come back
Great day apart from........
Fabulous course really friendly professional in the shop very helpful and pleasant
The course was in great condition, greens were brilliant Couldn’t fault it
Got to the 16th and two ladies jumped in right in front of us off the front 9 ? We found this very frustrating and of course not good golfing etiquette.
Disappointing
It’s 1st of July but Since Mid May when the lockdown was partially lifted and golf courses were reopened we played in many different golf courses so we are familiar and adheres to current health and safety rules and we never complain. When you as a VISITOR you do at least expect to be given a scorecard. At Bedale it’s like they’re still in the peak of the pandemic....NO SCORE CARDS allowed, not allowed to use the driving net, NO ACCESS TO TOILET so all members and visitors have to use the bushes!! Shocking! We can’t wash our hands, no hand sanitiser even. All greens from 1st to 18th are very slow, the second cut in fairways are punishing and very unforgiving so even on the very edge of the fairways the second cut will grab and bury your ball, you must use an iron! The Pro is grumpy....I guess he’s fed up of his club’s “new normal.”
Despite the fact that we scored very well and didn’t lose a ball, we can’t recommend Bedale and we certainly won’t go back in a hurry. I’m sure there are many better golf courses nearby where you’ll be allowed a SCORECARD.
Water water everywhere and storm Denis
Second time we have played this course. Friend has a cottage in Bedale that we use as a base. Bedale itself must be one of the most friendly places I have ever been. Plenty of places to get something to eat and drink. The course itself only had 10 holes open due to the amount of rain the whole country has had in the last few weeks and mats were used from 150 yards out ( 7 iron has never had it so good ) there was a bit of standing water on the greens and little ponds in some of the bunkers, storm Denis huffing and puffing also added to the fun. The pro in the shop was friendly and explained how to get to the 7th hole that was to be the starting hole. The course itself was in very good condition considering the weather over the last few months. Millionaire golfing afternoon never saw another player we ended up playing 23 holes. Thanks to everyone who clearly put a lot of work into getting and keeping the course in such good condition. See you next year.
Gorgeous
There is not a single hole that lets this course down, all of them pristine. There’s not a lot of ridiculous rough right next to the fairways that no one has bothered taming like you see on a lot of local courses, bunkers were immaculate. Got a round on a hot deal but would have gladly paid full price and hope to play it again soon.
Travelled 50 miles up the a1 to play this course..worth every penny of fuel used..outstanding course..fast undulating greens..few dog legs...tight drives..a few blind greens in from the 2nd shot...at £14 an absolute steal..if it means an hour drive...do yourself a favour.....TAKE THE TRIP...you won't be disappointed...
enjoyable day
Visited Bedale for a long weekend Played here Sunday 31st April 12:08 tee off time.
Received a warm welcome in the club shop. As this was our first time playing this course we were told about the short walk to the second tee and I think it was a walk from the 15th green to the 16th tee, but to be fair ever thing is well sign posted. fairways and greens were in excellent condition.
Would I play this course again? Definitely.
Course
A very good course , it is a fair course with some long par 4 but also some shorter ones if you are not a long hitter
Good test of golf
Previously a member at the club always nice to return AT SENSIBLE GREEN FEE PRiCE.!
Nice layout
Considering recent weather course was in reasonable condition, some tight lies on fairways but some sun should rectify. Greens good, only the odd mat on tee boxes.
Excellent Parkland Course
Very enjoyable round. Like all courses in the area the course had suffered from the recent heavy rains so there were three or four temporary greens.
Brilliant course
Excellent value and course was in first class condition would go again
Great location, Great course
Great condition and lovely place for a game of golf. Highly recommend it. I'll be playing golf there again.
Price is cheap as well. Gem of a course.
Excellent
Great course , Ive recently taken up golf loved it and each hole was so challenging but rewarding at the same time.
Hidden gem
Found this course in the today's golfer mag, under the list "top 50 hidden gems". This course didn't dismay. Tight fairways with meandering Brooks make you question your club selection. Really enjoyed the challenge and the scenery. I will definitely visit bedale again. Value for money A+
