Diseased greens, muddy, bare patches

We felt robbed of hard earned money.

Its to be expected that it's going to be wet this time of year but for a premium course like this the amount of bare patches was terrible. Nothing but mudball's every shot. The greens are all diseased and not rolling true. We called ahead to confirm use of trolleys to be told on arrival no trolleys but we could pay to hire there carry bags. The bunkers hadn't been raked. No halfway house open. Overall disappointed as this was a round on my birthday as a gift from my brother. Absolutely gutted a course of this prestige was such a terrible experience. Never again.

Winter golf at the Brabazon

Course was in pretty good condition for end of December, fairways still had a little roll out,. Tee boxes looked after and greens ok for this time of year.

Shotgun start was different, started on 15th which was a long par 5. Finished the hole and the group in front were just walking off the 16th tee box. So either late to the box or didn’t hear the klaxon at 10.30. So that held us up all the way round. Just under 5hour round.

Paid £75 for the round which was worth it. I wouldn’t pay the money for course in the summer as it’s close to £200. I think the Belfry should look into making the Brabazon experience a little better like they do at the 2010 at Celtic.

My only negative with the belfry is the cost of food and drinks. Over £5 for a large latte which is in a small cup. I don’t mind paying a little more but that seems excessive! Guy in front ordered 2 breakfasts and coffees and it was nearly £40.

Great course (poor greens)

Played here many times. Layout great with iconic holes and tee to green in good condition for winter. Only problem was the greens - have some disease on them with patches on them. Made putting bit of a lottery and was a bit disappointing as always been in top condition on previous visits etc

course is unplayable ( frozen )

beautiful course but was really disappointed,

totally unplayable at the moment as its frozen solid , the tennis ball bounce means you can't "hit the green" and the ball doesn't run when you are putting , wasn't worth the £80 to play ........ the course should be closed when it's frozen like that .

i booked it 10 days before and the forecast wasn't freezing but with the change in weather they should've closed it and rebooked the tee times

SPOT THE PUNS!! Excellent Course BTW

I’ve been wanting to play this course for 20 years, especially when I live only 30 minutes away. After seeing the discounted green fee, £90 from £185, I finally got round to playing one of my bucket list courses!

I’m delighted to say I wasn’t disappointed! The course was in fabulous condition, the lay out of the course was brilliant. The trouble was laid out in front of you so no punishments for hitting good shots, some great risk and reward holes. The iconic 10th is even better in real life!

We got caught in a massive downpour for half hour or so, I’m pleased to say the course held up to the drainage challenge!

Be prepared for a slow round, the 10th being main suspect, due 99% of hackers (me included) trying to find their inner Seve and drive the green. However The Halfway House next to the 10th is well stocked with with food and alcoholic beverages to take the edge off any impatience that may be brewing!

Would definitely play again! The green fee is £185, if you wait a few days before you’re thinking of playing, you’ll find afternoon tee off times for £90, be prepared to pair up with other people though. I went on my own and made up a 4-ball.

Keep quiet how much you paid as I got the impression those who I ended up playing with had paid the full rate!!

Course itself was really good. Pace of play ridiculously slow over 5hrs 10 mins for a 3ball.

Personally the vastness of the resort put me off, it was so busy and so commercialized, not what I expected. But that's just my opinion. The showers were cold and ladies locker room could do with a face-lift compared to the rest of the facilities.

Must play course

A little wet under foot but didn’t distract from how great this course is. A fair challenge and so historic.

Bucket list ticked off

Asking me to rate my round is a very different rating to the course!!

Amazing course though. Shotgun start worked perfectly and despite the awful weather the course was in superb condition.

This will now become a yearly thing.

Some excellent holes mixed in with some very average ones

The course itself has some iconic holes and some brilliant visuals, namely the 10th, 7th, 6th and 18th, which if you like and watch golf you would’ve seen. Off the white tees it is a lot more demanding than the yellows and plays extremely long in the cold and wet, with a maximum of 10 yards of run with a good drive at this time of year. Would recommend, but only one f your game is in decent shape.

The bar and food is good, just be prepared to pay £7 for a decent beer and £15/20 for a burger.

Brabazon

Great deal at £60 to play this iconic course. Greens & many fairways were recently sanded but to be expected in jan, so great experience for this time of year. slick friendly check in.

Expensive considering conditions

We played at the end of January in surprisingly dry conditions. There was a significant amount of maintenance with being done on the fairways so they, understandably weren't ideal but the greens were excellent and the course layout superb, challenging and interesting. I felt £60 pet head was over the top given the work being undertaken as a "normal" round of golf want possible.

Not worth the money

Course was in a terrible condition…. Very wet and probably shouldn’t have been sent out…. Drives hitting fairways and then spending 5 minutes looking for a plugged ball…. In the fairway!!!!!! Greens the same!!!!! Greens were not in good shape at all and rough was up so far if you was 5 yards off the fairway you’d lose the ball as plugged in the rough so no chance of finding it… even with 4 players looking for it….. I know it’s winter golf but this was just a money making exercise
