Enjoyable round
Considering the large amount of rain we’ve had the course drainage was impressive, the one downside was the quality of the greens very bobbly and flags were generally placed close to the fringes not giving much leeway for approach shots.
A great course at a brilliant price
Calderfields is a very varied course and offers a few challenging holes. With a variety of hazards - it’s good fun either as a solo or with friends. Highly recommended - does get a little muddy following wet weather!
Course Conditions
Even after over 5 days no rain, followed by 1, then another 3 days no rain, the course was very wet and muddy underfoot. Once shots landed that was it. On the plus side the greens, once on them, were in good nick.
In a much improved condition
I have played here a few times and the course has had its drainage issues in the past. The groundskeepers appear to have got on top of this now and the course was in decent condition for early September.
The greens were in good condition too.
If the improvements keep the fairways in good condition I will definitely return to play it again.
Most Improved Club
The changes in this golf club over the last two years is immeasurable. Visibly the greens ,aprons and fairways have benefited from the arrival of a new , enthusiastic and experienced head Greenkeepers . Not so obvious is the work on the drainage funded by a new general manager with a positive forward thinking attitude. For us that means a quality, challenging round of golf. There are great facilities too. Nets, practice areas and a great sports bar to talk about your birdie after your round. All at a very competitive rate.,
Nice round
This was a okay course nothing special but perfectly okay for a round. The course was in fair condition given the recent weather. Not too tricky but a few holes where you have to take care. The signage was a bit tricky in places but considering the price it’s well worth it. If you are thinking of playing it, think of the price and set your expectations accordingly. It’s fairly priced.
Course improvement
There has been a tremendous amount of work on the course both on things like drainage that you don’t see and on the greens and the aprons that have improved immeasurably. Add the that the friendliness of the members and staff makes this course rate above its standing. Must not forget the putting green, chipping green, nets, practice range and the well stocked pro shop. And after your game there is the sports lounge with sports tv, pool and darts plus the bar for rehydration.

Calderfield golf course
The course was in wonderful condition. The greens for this time of year were a little slow. Had a great day. Thank you very much
Poor Course
I played this course on 12.06.24. I was shocked at how bad this course had become. The cut grass was all over the fairways, the greens were appalling, the bunkers shocking. There was no pride in this course whatsoever, a real shame as it is a lovely setting.
Bunker problems
Haven't played here for a while, last time the rough was really bad, some greens were awful and the main problem was with the bunkers. Generally the course was in great condition today, greens, fairways and rough had actually been cut. Same as before some bunkers are unplayable, like playing off concrete. Not much sand in them, stones and weeds etc, just need to sort this out. Then would be a very nice course.
Poor Golf experience
On arrival, we were informed to expect a 5hr round as there was a medal comp in play.
They appeared to have crammed as many players as possible on the course and every shot involved a wait for players ahead to clear.
The fairways were uncut and in poor condition, the greens hollow tined and more rocks than sand in the alleged bunkers.
We will not play this course again and will not recommend it to friends.
Calderfields of Dreams
What a difference a change in weather can do course was spot on greens were brilliant some areas were boggy still but to be fair I would of been ok if I could hit on the fairway.
