Enjoyable Round, nice scenery

Booked at discount rate of £20 each for me and a friend. Club shop well stocked with plenty of gear and friendly staff. I hired a bag trolley for £3 which seems good value, as someone who doesn’t own one.

Sometimes as a beginner, rounds can feel rushed or under pressure to play quickly from players behind but there was none of that here. We let a few solos play through to not hold anyone up but the players were very courteous and respectful

A nice variation in of holes with good scenery, the odd water hazard and fast greens but overall not the most challenging course I have been on. A few tight fairways with tree lines alongside but for the most part the fairways are quite forgiving for a stray tee shot.

Some well placed bunkers add to the complexity of some of the holes and on the whole a canny course. For a course placed in the middle of Gosforth, it does a good job of making you think your in the middle of Northumberland .

Will very likely play here again

Great course and could be even better!

First time playing here. Incredibly tranquil and a fantastic layout - amazing to be 30 seconds from the heart of Newcastle and feels like deepest Northumberland.

The course layout is great and the short par 4’s (almost all of them) make it quite a forgiving course. The 14th is a brilliant par 3 over water (think I liked it more as I squeezed a birdie in).

My only criticism is that this could be even better. The pin positions could easily be ‘flagged’ on a colour coded flat system (front, back, centre) and the fairways needed cutting more closely - they were damp with no roll and were quite long in places. The tee boxes could also have been tidied up. As I say a great course and could be even better.

Surprisingly long

Having lived literally a mile away from this course for 13 years and never played it today I had my first round. I was, quite surprised how big the fairways were, large sweeping wide fairways with lovely tree lines. Managed to get in front of a 3 ball on hole 3 and got round in under 3 hours. Chap in pro-shop was nice and friendly will 100% be back.

Wow! Above all expectations - what a gem.

First time playing and I was very impressed.

Had the course to myself (a little bit of rain had encouraged others to bail on their rounds) which was delightful.

You forget you are in a city and feel like you are out in the countryside. I had a deer join me on a few holes, a woodpecker, squirrels and geese knocking around too.

The course is flat but well placed bunkers and doglegs mean you can’t just hit drivers off all the tee boxes.

The condition of the course was excellent despite rain and winter on the way.

Pure Greens

Greens were class especially after 2 days of constant rain. Not the longest course but some tough tee shots which require thought. Would definitely recommend and can't go wrong for the price.

Great course spoilt by a few members

A good experience with the only bad point being the 4 ball ahead of our 2 ball who were determined not to let us play through. A member said they were notorious, really believe clubs need to do more to address this.

Friendly welcome and advice at the clubhouse. Clubhouse was one of the best ive visited outside of top championship courses. As for the course itself it was in top condition and it was hard to believe you were not out in the middle of the country. Will return but if we end up behind the same 4 ball I doubt a third visit would be on the cards.

City of Newcastle

As the course has one in its iconic 14th I have to say this course is a "wee gem". Originally designed by Harry Vardon this is a good track with some testing approach shots into a more classical feel than the modern courses we are given today.

I would 100% be happy to be a member of this club because it has enough of a challenge to make it different every time you play it. Par 5's that give you a chance, par 3's that test and are very different to each other and a range of par 4's that do the same.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day and finding an updated, modern bar/restaurant was a joy. Tremendous decor and feel in the place supported by lovely staff. I liked it so much I became a social member!

Great day of golf in lively surroundings, well worth a game!

Great club house

First time I’ve played here the greens were in excellent condition some of the tee boxes could have been a bit more looked after weeds and long grass on the sides.

No real signature hole on the course and a bit .repetitive. Club house has just been refurbished to an excellent standard.
