Brilliant scenery
2nd time played, loved both time’s highly recommended
South Chesterfield GC is a little gem and has it all and just off junc 29. Well groomed, Beautiful greens and fairways. You can tell the staff really care about the course and it shows. I would say it’s moderate to challenging and would definitely recommend a visit.
Nice little course
Course was in lovely condition. Excellent value for money.
Good Day Out!!
I’m pretty local, but try and play South Chesterfield at least once or twice a year! The course always plays well and in my opinion is well maintained.
Great little course
Good course with challenging greens and not too long holes but still required a lot of thought. Conditions were good just a shame about pace of play very slow had to wait on every hole for groups before when we were just a two ball.
Credit to the Green Keepers
Follow the club on Facebook and they have had to close so many times cos of the awful weather we have had but played today and the green keepers have honestly done such a great job and the course was in amazing condition and Greens were immaculate.
5 stars
Played here for the first time yesterday, great course forgiving enough for us as high handicappers but still challenging with a variety of holes. Course was in great conditions with the greens being the best of those I’ve played at several courses so far this year. Driving range was cheap and great for a warm up and a nice bar for a pint after, will definitely return, great day
Slow round today, 3 ball and 4 ball ahead taking their time. Normally its better, maybe just a bit more busy than usual.
Great Course
Welcomed by shop staff, easy check in. Course in good condition despite recent bad weather. Fairways nice and greens play well. Definitely return soon.
Brilliant value course
This is my local course and honestly it's fantastic, it's brilliant for mid-high handicappers as its challenging enough but also nice and open on most holes. The weather has been brutal for this course recently and of course it was a little boggy in places but to be honest it was completely playable on all holes and now the weather is picking it up it will dry out and it's a fantastic course in the summer/drier weather.
Member's giving the course a worst name for itself.
Avoid.
Appreciate the rainfall has been heavy but I play at my local course which has handled it well, South Chesterfield however is simply unplayable. 1 out of 18 holes had a fairway cut into it. Balls were continuously being lost due to plugging into the fairway. 2 holes closed despite being charged for 18 holes.
All of this could be overlooked given the price had it not been for the riff raff caliber of member's hurling abuse in the car park at us for playing the 18th hole. We were unaware this hole was closed as nothing was mentioned to us when checking in (something my home course would have made sure to do). The irony being the 18th was the only green where the ball actually rolled well.
Would not return, pay peanuts get peanuts and a couple of ****wits marking their territory.
Great value for money, nice course, slightly exposed so can be affected by wind. well prepared fairways and greens even in the depth of winter. has good facilities including driving range. would definitely rebook. only disappointment kitchen closed by 2pm on Sunday so no food.
South Chesterfield golf club
The golf course was is good condition for the time of year, however the pace of play was very slow due to a 5 ball playing on the course which we contacted the club house but they wouldn't come and sort it out. The 5 ball we're a few groups infont of us which backed the course up
Cold
Very cold, fairways wet and boggy (lost 4 balls driving straight down the middle :-)) greens very good a little hard due to frost.
Good condition given the recent wet weather
First round at South Chesterfield, having managed to get a £15pp hot deal.
Having spent the last few weeks struggling to find courses open, exclusively on temporary greens or not having to wade through bogs/swamps, for the price we thought it was worth trying out.
Good facilities off the course...nice clubhouse, driving range and practice area, and the aesthetics of the course were there from the start.
The course was in great condition given the recent wet weather, with all greens playable (except the 3rd hole which was closed) and in very good knick.
The course offered a good challenge with a variety of holes...a number of shorter par 4's, several par 3's, a fair few dog legs and a bit of water around in certain places.
Overall, we were very impressed with the course and would definitely play here again. I'd imagine, in the summer, it becomes a different course all together...playing a lot shorter but the greens are very undulating and so would become very tough when firm and quick.
Would definitely recommend.
south chesterfield golf club
arrived at south chesser looking foreward to round of golf. Drove off 2nd ball onto green ,I lie it was a ploughed field. all the greeens had been hollow tined . a feeble attempt to put sand on the greens was a disaster. i think they had used 1 bucket of sand for the whole green. Do not book online till you have phoned the course as to the state of the greens. We learned a valueable lesson.
