Work Needed
Generally not a bad course. Short but fun. Unfortunately the tee boxes are like concrete and struggle to get a tee in. The fairways also need some work to get on par with other courses of similar price in the area.
Interesting course, nice greens, cheap and cheerful
Always enjoyable.
Surprisingly decent greens.
Some pins often in too harsh positions on the very sloping greens.
My biggest criticism would be the tee boxes which are very uneven and always in poor condition.
Recommended if on a budget.
Nice club shop and staff.
First time
Great value course. Every green was in perfect condition and a few nice holes on the course. Would definitely play again.
Nice course
Nice course to play especially if you are not brilliant. wide fairways, very few brooks, ponds, lakes.
Heathland course so the rough can be tough and it can get windy, but thats a positive challenge.
Greens really nice and fair.
Flat easy course
Course was in very good condition. Greens immaculate and very few people on it in the afternoon. First half has some challenges but back nine very up and down straight holes. I like course because I play a handful of times a year and it doesn’t beat you up. My friend felt it was a bit boring as he plays regularly at a club so take your pick.
£16 a round and worth it.
Slow but enjoyable
Got to the 1st tee 5 minutes early and the pair in front (in a buggy) were just playing up to the green. I waited the extra 5 minutes as I didnt want to put pressure on them, which gave them time to finish the hole. By the time I got to the 3rd hole there was already 3 groups on the tee. I was by no means rushing ( even throwing the odd extra ball out around the green) to be fair it gave me a little longer to think about my shot and it paid dividend with a decent round( by my standards).
It didn't bother me that much as I asked for info on membership after the round.
Good conditions, terrible mats.
Greens are very good for this time of year. Comparable to £25/30 courses. General course conditions are great.
Unfortunately it was off this mats this April. The mats are terrible and some of them just won't take a tee.
A good quick round of golf
Course in reasonable condition given the weather we have had , goog pace of play across the course
A shame it was wet
I’ve played here several times now,
But on this day the course should have been closed, after we had so much rain!
Standing water throughout the first 9 fairways , greens were still playable
I will go again as I know how well it plays but definitely not after a rainy day.
South Chesterfield GC
As ever, the course was excellently kept. The greens are particularly good. Mats were in use for teeing off, due to preserving main tees for spring, summer and autumn golf, but they did not detract from a very enjoyable round.
Sodden
Surprised course was open. Absolutely sodden. Lost 4 balls that plugged in the middle of the fairway. Ankle deep in water on most fairways. Bunkers like paddling pools. Saving grace greens in good condition. Would not play this course at this time of year again. Huge shame as a lovely summer course
Never got to play
Never got to play the course. Was closed 2 days before our booked tee time and when it did re-open it was carry only. The golfers in our party are unable to carry and it was too late to get a refund. So the golf club got £52 for absolutely nothing.
Hidden Gem
Fantastic pro shop and club house. Staff were very friendly. Struggled with the wet conditions but the greens were in great condition. Well looked after course. Absolute bargain, will definitely play again.
