South Chesterfield golf club
The golf course was is good condition for the time of year, however the pace of play was very slow due to a 5 ball playing on the course which we contacted the club house but they wouldn't come and sort it out. The 5 ball we're a few groups infont of us which backed the course up
Cold
Very cold, fairways wet and boggy (lost 4 balls driving straight down the middle :-)) greens very good a little hard due to frost.
Good condition given the recent wet weather
First round at South Chesterfield, having managed to get a £15pp hot deal.
Having spent the last few weeks struggling to find courses open, exclusively on temporary greens or not having to wade through bogs/swamps, for the price we thought it was worth trying out.
Good facilities off the course...nice clubhouse, driving range and practice area, and the aesthetics of the course were there from the start.
The course was in great condition given the recent wet weather, with all greens playable (except the 3rd hole which was closed) and in very good knick.
The course offered a good challenge with a variety of holes...a number of shorter par 4's, several par 3's, a fair few dog legs and a bit of water around in certain places.
Overall, we were very impressed with the course and would definitely play here again. I'd imagine, in the summer, it becomes a different course all together...playing a lot shorter but the greens are very undulating and so would become very tough when firm and quick.
Would definitely recommend.
south chesterfield golf club
arrived at south chesser looking foreward to round of golf. Drove off 2nd ball onto green ,I lie it was a ploughed field. all the greeens had been hollow tined . a feeble attempt to put sand on the greens was a disaster. i think they had used 1 bucket of sand for the whole green. Do not book online till you have phoned the course as to the state of the greens. We learned a valueable lesson.
Friendly
Because of recent very wet weather course was heavy and not at it's best. Hopefully grass gets a cut as course dries.
The course is nicely laid out and greens are good. Excellent clubhouse with good food & friendly staff.
Great value and good layout
Generally can’t complain about this course.
Been a few times now.
Always in decent condition.
Greens struggling a little bit at the moment - looks potentially a little bit of disease on some of the greens.
Tee boxes needed some attention but guessing the rain has hit it hard in recent weeks.
Otherwise pretty good.
Lovely course
Lovely course, open fairways and the greens were very good
Excellent course
This course is excellent throughout from the staff and food to the course, brilliant how lucky we are to live in this area.
Good but hungry
Course was in excellent condition ..the greens were brill very fast . Loved the round and would recommend any to play there … only down side we finished our round at just a little after 12 moon went to club house bar lady very nice , only down side is when asked if I could order food the reply was sorry no food today . Very disappointed and unfortunately this is not first time … couldn’t even get a sandwich.. I could understand if later in the day but at midday this let my day down … great little course but being able to get food afterwards not good
South Chesterfield
Great course. Immaculate greens. Only issue was the lack of hazards.
Good round given conditions
South Chesterfield is a gem of a course not overly priced for a beautiful course with all the amenities you need.
The reason for todays score was down to two things:
- Condition of the course was good, just some areas were badly churned up, but given the recent weather this is the same as most courses near by at the moment.
- Pace of play, the only real negative for me is that most round s will take 5 hours here, some of this I think comes down to the amount of four balls and no Marshall to ensure tee time spacings are adhered to.
Thanks
James
Chesterfield
Decent course, only problem I have we had to play off winter tees, they said it was to wet? They looked fine to me, greens are good, course is decent, friendly staff.
