Better than I expected
After booking the course I discovered it was a council run course and admit I had some concern over how it would then be maintained and treated by irregular visitors. This was unfounded, it was in good condition despite the weather.
The course was wet in many places but this was to be expected this time of year in addition to the wet weather.
I thought it was a challenging course, that isn’t particularly long but with many dog legs and tricky bunkers. Generally well maintained but no practice facilities with the driving range having closed during COVID.
Great Natural layout, friendly staff, poor greens.
The layout at Haigh Hall is superb and would recommend anyone to play here. Only thing that let's it down is the greens. Staff were very attentive.
Very Challenging but so Enjoyable
I played my first ever round here and I'll definitely be returning. It was unbelievably cheap for how good the course is! It's a challenging course as the area is quite hilly. I didn't find this too much until I reached the 15th. It is very steep back up to the 18th green. If hills aren't your thing, they do offer buggies so don't let that put you off. The course has some beautiful views down into the Douglas Valley over Wigan. The cafe at the golf shop is very well priced. It offers a great menu of hot food as well as sandwiches. All the staff I spoke to were really friendly and I can't wait to go back to play again.
Incredibly Beautiful
I loved my round of golf here. Just to warn others, it's uphill from the 14th back in so be ready for that. It's one of the best courses I've ever played.
Not bad for the money
Played with a mate who doesn’t play too often so thought this would be a decent challenge for him.
Course was in ok condition but I unfortunately was having a problem with moles.
Some good views to be had .
Bunkers weren’t great.
For £16 it’s good value
First time playing and as a middle of the road golfer I found the course great. Condition of course was fine.
Excellent value for money
Great course for the price paid - only thing that would make it better would be the inclusion of a putting/chipping green or a warm-up area/range
Great value for money course
Great kast minute go to course . Easy accesible either on line or turn up and pay. For a public course it's a decent course and in good condition. and well worth the money.
My only gripe is the 18th tee box is extremely poor and needs urgent attention
No junior fee the course was fine
I took my 14 year old son and had to pay full price for him there was no junior fee which I found odd
Value for money
Reasonable we’ll kept municipal course, definitely value for money. In good condition for a municipal course
Great days golf
I played this course about 20 years ago. I didn’t remember any hole at all . But I will definitely play it again. It was a fantastic golf course with the most undulating greens I have played for years. Some tee boxes need attention but apart from that I would recommend this tough test of golf to anyone
