Fantastic course

This is my 3rd time playing Kendal but first time in winter. Course was in very good condition for the time of year. Greens excellent for winter greens. Every hole different and interesting. Quite hilly with lots of elevation changes. We had 12:40 tee time (sunset before 4 pm) so I bought some glow balls anticipating finishing in the dark. They were great fun and fantastic. Played 17 and 18 in the dark. We had nobody immediately in front or behind and as a 2 ball enjoyed great pace of play. One of the best courses I have played and especially in winter as well drained. Spectacular 360deg scenery. Wonderful away day. Highly recommended both in summer and winter. The pro shop and bar staff were very friendly. Cheapest round of golf ever: £9.99 on Golf Now £5.01 cheaper than if booked directly.

Autumn round

First time playing the course. Despite almost two days of constant wind and rain prior to our game I was not expecting to play. However the course was very much playable , soft in areas but not as bad as I expected. Greens were superb great speed and tricky to read.

Pro shop well stocked and very welcoming staff

Course is very much one you would play different second time around once you knew the blind shots.

The club do have a few issues, hole 16 has been shortened due to neighbouring industrial units complaining about stray balls hitting cars. Also a bit disappointed not to be able to grab a beer or done food after our round as apparently caterers recently walking out.

One I would recommend playing if in the area.

Stunning Location

An absolutely beautiful location with awe-inspiring views at almost every Tee position. A good challenge too. Staff were excellent and helpful. The greens and fairways were being improved and I'm looking forward to returning to see how things progress. Once these have been refined then this course will be 5 stars in every category.

Kendal Gold Club

Not played here for a while and looking to get back into golf so booked a last minute tee time. It was quiet on the course and considering the time of year the fairways and greens were in decent condition and the weather and views were fantastic. Surprised myself by playing to a 10 handicap albeit on winter tees when I last had a handicap of 15 when I stopped plating as a junior there 33 years ago. It's a fairly challenging course set on a hillside and good exercise too and I'd recommend anyone to have a round of golf there. Will definitely be going back for a few more rounds in the not too distant future.

Holiday golf day Ray, Allan and Mick

Easy to book on line. Received confirmation email and on arrival at pro shop our booking was confirmed. Staff brilliant and after 4 days rain course was in amazing condition. Hired elecric trolley £10.00 which I thought was good value and invaluable on this course. Didn't have time to use club house which was open (unlike Winderemere Golf Course on Monday which cost £40.00 and club house closed due to staff shortages!!!!). Will use app again....highly recommended.

Considering the time of year and the weather has been reasonable all summer the greens were almost unplayable and the fairways had not been cut for some time.

We have played here before and the course was in much better condition all round

Challenging

Nice course with stunning views. Lots of hidden greens which was difficult as it was our first time here and struggled with shots into the green. One hole we both shot well but had no idea where our balls were so became quite frustrating!

Yes here is a rubbish tip nearby so the air was pungent…..

Very Hilly and well maintained

Hilly, greens in poor condition, public everywhere!

Great views from this course, once you've climbed the mountains to get up there!

Lots of public, not always on the official footpaths. Never had to wait for the game in front, but had to wait several times for dog walkers or joggers who seem to think they have free reign of the course

Greens not great but they were in good condition the time before so hopefully just a weather related blip

Value for money

Played the course today for the first time. Although a bit hilly, there are some good holes to open your shoulders, there were also some blind shots. The day we played was like millionaires golf, no one in front, no one behind. All in all, would definitely play the course again, some tricky holes, some where you need to play the course (not with your head) - knowing the course would be an advantage.

Quality course

Excellent value, great layout but very hilly so need to consider that - will definitely be back. Shame a few larger umbrellas haven’t been put outside as those used do not cover the tables and chairs for a beer after if it is raining so revenue being lost. Lovly course overall
