Good course, great value
Friendly welcome. Course well looked after, particularly considering dry recent weather. Well worth a visit.
Very well kept but major lack of info during play
Really impressed this with course, being high handicappers we lost a lot of balls throughout the day due to all the water hazards but I still found the challenging aspect excellent.
The real down fall is the total lack of information provided, the markers at the tea boxes are faded so you can’t tell if they are yellow or white, and it’s not very clear where the total yardage is specifically taken from at each hole. This doubled with very few 100/150 yard markers and no colour coding of flags to show where the pin position is causes both frustration and extra minutes and strokes added to the round. Simple additions could make this lovely looking course so much more functional.
Unfriendly pro shop
Booked a four ball and when I rang to book a buggy as two of my friends can't play without one was told they were on a first come first served basis. As there was no indication of this when I booked the tee times I explained that if I turned up and no buggy was available my friends couldn't play and we has already paid for the fourball the pro shop said they couldn't help me. I think this should be made apparent when booking. When we arrived we asked for a buggy and were told that we couldn't book it even though we were there until 30 mins before our tee time, even though we offered to pay for it. The pro shop welcome was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. The only friendly person at the course was the lady in the bar who gave us our food. I have played golf at many courses but wouldn't recommend this course there if definitely not a welcome for visitors, perhaps it's because they are not getting any money.
Picturesque course
First time playing the lakes course well impressed with course layout. Fairways need a good downpour due to the weather greens are very well kept will definatley be back very reasonable price as well
Great Course!
This is the 4th time I have played the Lakes. its a great course is very good condition, playing during the week or weekend its never to busy. Apart from how terrible I am at golf I had a very good day!
First time playing
First time playing Longhirst Lakes. Played with my grandson who is 15 and I am 65 and we both enjoyed it very much.
The tees require attention and the greens need time to repair them selfs as they are well used.
We would definitely play Longhirst again as it’s a testing course and very long with loads of water.
Dawson Course
A nice course and lay out greens had been top dressed so lots of sand on them but this would not put me off playing again. Friendly staff and a nice pint.
Good course and good value for money
i enjoy this course though don't recommend playing it in the wind!
Superb
Course in mint condition as always 4 slow idiots in front of our 3 ball that caused a back log behind us
Longhirst - THE LAKES
Thoroughly enjoyed the game on Sunday afternoon. I found the layout, the course condition and especially the greens outstanding. Without doubt I would recommend this to any golfer of any standard.
Even makes me think of joining the club I was that impressed!
Extremely scenic
I had friends visiting from the south and my club was unable to accommodate us until the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday due to a medal comp.
We chose to play at Longhirst due to friends recommendations. Tee off Times had some good offers which we took advantage of on a Saturday.
There are two courses - we played 'The Lakes'. There are excellent views of Northumberland as you make you way around a well set out course with some really interesting and challenging holes, with plenty of water, as you would expect.
The fairways were in excellent condition and our only small recommendation would be to speed up the greens. In this respect we are used to quite quick greeens at our home clubs.
The clubhouse is confortable and gas a good range of reasonably priced food and drinks.
I would definitely recommend this course and would like to play it again.
Very good
Good test for hi handicap but still fair, couple of par 3's too simple but overall good value for money and some stunning longer holes
challenging course for 28 handicapper
A while since I played here and forgotten how tough it can be. the lakes course has some wide fairways and long holes but you still have to have control in windy conditions and going off course is punishing. At £13 for my round it was excellent value. the greens were very firm causing the ball to skid off if given too much power but putting was very true.
Lakes
Its in fantastic condition all greens have the same pace but be warned water water water on every hole so beginners play the Dawson course
This course has some great holes
Fantastic course to play,me and my mate played dawson course first then had a lovely burger from the bar and then playes the lakes course where yiu are surrounded by water!! Great course plenty of balls needed if your not straight!! Lol
Would recommend this course to everyone its a must play course
Picturesque course
Fantastic views, very interesting course and difficult when the wind blows because of the number of lakes
