Newbiggin Golf Club

Played this course a few times now and as always it never fails to deliver and deceive in the nicest way possible. Highly recommend Newbiggin, from the pro (who as always is helpful and accommodating to visitors) to the friendly and welcoming bar staff and of course the demanding and tricky but playable golf course.

1st time me and a friend had played the course played on a very windy but warm day, clubhouse very welcoming course itself is completely burnt out understandably so with the current heat wave. Club championship was being played on the same day.

Few iffy holes from 6 to the turn where your wondering where your hitting from tee shots or blind 2nd shots with marker posts being very short. Back 9 nothing standout and greeted by a horse on the 18th fairway.

Cant complain at the price but wouldnt hurry back. Nothing standout about the course. Just my own opinion though each to there own

Course is in fantastic condition, little bit of work going on with irrigation around the greens but doesn’t affect your round, workers are quite happy to allow you to take your shot.

Greens are pure, scenery is outstanding.

Got there early , as it was my first time playing there , pro shop let us get away 10 mins early , very windy and a bit sunshine, very flat course , fairways not in a very good condition , but the greens very fast and in excellent condition , the clubhouse was very nice and the staff very helpful .

When i started it was a bit misty, but soon cleared. The course is a great society golf day course. The greens were the best i’ve played on for some time. Well worth the money. I joined up with a guest and members who were all friendly and helpful, must include the club pro who was very accommodating.

Love going to Newbiggin .it’s link’s style is great without having to travel too far north. The course is generally in good condition though some areas require attention particularly bunkers . Club house is nice with good services.

I’m a beginner and because the course is so open it was perfect, was abit windy but nothing the golf club can do about that.

Played here many times… course was in good condition with a couple of soggy spots but overall in good shape for the amount of rain that fell previous days. Greens were excellent for the time of year. The weather was brutal at times but I was well prepared for it and enjoyed the day. Will be back again to play.

Course was Sahara dry with dust bowl fairways but heavily watered greens that were verdant green and ultra slow due to cautious mowing. Bunkering is trad links with mainly very small revetted pots - I avoided all of them! Most tee shots (from yellow) have obvious lines but some in the approach to the Power Station ( not too intrusive!). area are tricky. Some boundary areas were a bit scruffy and littered as Joe/Jane Public and their dogs* clearly create litter & worse*- bit of early day attention here would up the presentation factor. It is a very open aspect layout with potential for a strong wind factor and we were lucky to avoid this. Cheery welcome from the professional with a précis of what’s what to get round and he chatted with interest at the finish too. Friendly staff and tidy clubhouse In these days of high cost low value courses Newbiggin GC deserves to prosper. Like many areas it needs normal rainfall service to resume to help it get the condition back.

Great condition for time of year nice breakfast and great Sunday lunch
