Golf
Got there early , lovely sunny day no wind went on the driving range then got started 20 minutes early , very few on the course we played at our own pace ,course was in good condition apart from the grass was a bit long , but overall a great day , and will return .
Nice course but some issues need attention
The course is generally in good end of season condition (with the exception of a few suboptimal greens), presents a fair challenge, is enjoyable to play and the club house has recently been refurbished to good effect. However, the ongoing issue with 7th tee box & green arrangement needs to be resolved urgently as it's currently a bit of a nonsense - best way forward is probably construction of a new tee box to the North of the old one with nets to protect the gardens of the new housing and the SUD's area designated "out of bounds" - green fee needs reducing a bit until the issues are resolved - we paid £35 but felt that £25 was probably nearer the mark.
Great every time
Great course for all abilities. Some tricky holes but plenty of forgiveness for the new players. Staff are always friendly and the new clubhouse is great! Course in fantastic condition. Can’t wait for the new 7th hole to be ready.
Burgham Park
From arrival to finish a very enjoyable round of golf for my first visit to Burgham Park. Thanks to Simon, club Captain, for a warm welcome and vital tips on playing the course. Burgham was in great condition with some terrific holes. Well worth a visit particularly for those that like a tough golfing test. Looking forward to returning soon.
Good course - worth a visit
Don’t be put off by the practice green when you arrive - the actual greens are fantastic. Course in great condition but the 7th hole temporary set up is a bit of a mess. Would recommend and would play again.
Great day
Booked for 2 golfers, 90mins or so before tee time. Arrived on a lovely bright day, little breezy tho. Course in great condition, thoroughly enjoyable, we did let a solo player thru. Greens excellent, would definitely book again. Couple of bunkers were GUR fairways ones, so not really in play. Overall excellent.
Burgham park
Had another good round , there was 2 groups of ladies in front of me , so pace of play was slow , that didn't stop me from having a good afternoon, conditions very warm , course in excellent condition, even had time to talk to one of the greenkeepers ,
I will go back .
Slow and terrible greens
Pace of play was as bad as it gets and greens were in a very poor condition given the time of year won’t be returning in a hurry
Another good round
Got there a little bit early , no problem just go when your ready , the course was in fantastic condition, playing really fast , pace of play was great , didn't encounter any problems, will return to play again , any offers coming on in September, the same as last year .
Over booked
No course management of corporate bookings and was clearly over booked
Spoke to a few members who were walking off saying the club is struggling as so many members are leaving
Had to walk off after 9 holes - 2.5 hours!
We will never return !
Lovely course in great condition, friendly staff.
Really lovely golf course, a little more 'forgiving' than other courses we've played in Northumberland i.e. occasionally ending up on adjacent fairway after a wayward drive. The course was in great condition, and the greens fast but 'true' - greens were also soft, I guess because they'd been watered early + it rained heavy the day before - so balls were stopping quickly on the greens, much better than pitching short and hoping they run onto the green. The course didn't feel as long as the card suggested, perhaps partly helped by dry, hot and sunny weather with low wind. Staff were pleasant and informative, although a minor quibble - we were told food is served all day but in fact stopped at 3.30pm (Tuesday) although there were some meat pasties/pies, etc in a glass case (unfortunately I'm vegetarian). Our round finished at 4pm ! All in all we really enjoyed the day, we'll be back for sure.
Decent day out
Booked on a hot deal which was a bit of a bargain for a Sunday morning. Friendly staff, clubhouse having some improvements done which look good. A housing development has been built on the old par 3 course since some work going on here and there but no bother. Nice tree lined course in a rural area with some challenging holes. Generally well kept. Temporary hole no7 was a bit odd but I’m sure it’ll get sorted. Welcoming, friendly players out on the course too.
Good course
We played on a Saturday afternoon and were behind a society playing in fourballs. We were a two, so pace was slow for us although the society's pace of play was okay for fourballs.
Our initial opinion was that the practice putting green wasn't great, however the greens on the course were good.
The course is of reasonably modern construction so longer than average off the white tees. Fairways are reasonably wide. There are longer walks from tee to green than on more traditional courses.
Overall a course worth playing and just half a mile from the A1 is easily found.
Shame about greens
Course in excellent condition shame about the greens. Spoilt par 3 7th but all in all enjoyed ot in very windy conditions
Brilliant course
Brilliant course and really friendly staff, only my second time out at a golf club and I loved it, really hard course for beginners like myself, but a great and humbling experience, most definitely will return.
I'll be back
First time playing the course and I really enjoyed the round. Staff were super friendly and helpful, he talked me through some of the trickier holes before I went out. The course was having some improvements being completed, but they didn't affect the round. I thought it was great value for money and I'll definitely be back during the summer months to play again
