Both great courses
The Dawson Course is one of two excellent courses here. It’s the longer of the two and features some very long holes lined with plenty of trees, making it one of the more challenging courses I’ve had the pleasure of playing.
There are several water hazards throughout the course, although not quite as many as its sister course. While that might sound intimidating, it actually adds to the enjoyment and strategy of the round rather than taking away from it.
One of the standout holes is the 5th, which is essentially an island-style green surrounded by water. It’s a fantastic hole, and the feeling when you’re the only one in your group to hit the green is unbeatable.
Another major highlight is the practice facilities. The club offers a fully equipped TrackMan driving range, a dedicated area for practicing chips and bunker shots, and a huge putting green. It’s an excellent setup for warming up or working on your game.
Overall, both the Dawson Course and the Lakes Course are fantastic and easily earn a 5-star rating.
Told tee time cancelled on the tee box
We got a phone call at 08:52 on our tee time to say that the course was closed. It actually wasn’t as others had already teed off in front. The reason ours was cancelled was because it was raining and they didn’t want none members playing. Won’t be playing here again, we travelled 60 minutes this morning to this course to be told we couldn’t play on the tee box.
Golf a winner
After booking my round and ticking the box , when I arrived and found out I needed winter wheels for my trolley , which was my fault , the pro was really good and allowed us to play , as the course was in really good condition , the sun was out no wind so playing conditions we're excellent, overall had a great day and will be back , with the correct wheels .
Enjoyable
18 holes played in under 4 hours, course in great condition, only a couple of GUR, greens good, little slow tho. Overall very enjoyable.
Dawson
I haven't played this course for a few years but was really impressed with the condition of the course. Greens were not rapid but you got a true roll & could stop the ball chipping in. Great value for money when others are trying to take your eyes out well worth a visit & I will be returning.
Good Value for Money
Played the Dawson. It was in good condition except for some of the tee boxes that were effectively dry earth without grass. Fairways and greens were excellent. Greenkeeping staff a little inconsiderate talking on phones and doing jobs around the green when putting but presume that is a one off.
Great course
This is one of the best clubs that I have pkayed. The other course this club offers, The Lakes, is outstanding too.
Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful
Food is tasty and affordable.
Thoroughly recommend this course, and The Lakes.
To congested
There was people teeing off behind us hit my friend on the back and then ran off course. Before this happened we had 4 later tee offs right up our back ends just walking through teeing off before us not even asking if they could play through. Took us 3.5 hours to do 9 holes with all the people on this course aye would never recommend this to anyone booking on golf now as tee off time does not count to the members on this course obviously
Nice course in excellent condition . Greens were lovely .
Excellent Course well maintained and definitely Value for the Green Fees.I would recommend any Golfer who's in this Area to play this Course. If I'm back in this area I will definitely be Back and give the lakes Course a shot
Great condition
Had the pleasure of playing today in the mining engineers competition.
Have played early in season when the greens were just back on from the winter.
Today the course was immaculately turned out with easy defined fairways.
The green were starting to bloo. But were excellent a d true.
Ive played a few courses recently and these were up with the best.
Great golf club
Fabulous golf courses with two 18 holes in great condition. There's also an excellent driving range with tracers on all bays with a huge chipping and bunker practise area.
Modern clubhouse with food and drink at affordable prices.
Beautiful course and day out
Played the Dawson course today, and found it beautiful. Extremely well presented with the greens rolling lovely. Playing lakes next week. Would definitely recommend.
Fabulous
Played a few courses while up here on holiday for Easter, this was the best we played. All the courses we played were struggling for growth, but you can see this place was ready to burst into life. A great layout and unbelievable views. Reminded us of Celtic Manor 2010 course. Can’t wait to return and play the other course in the summer.
Hi Thanks for your comment. The course closure that day was a late call. The players who had gone out were brought in from the course due to the weather. We always try to advise golfers as early as possible, but in this case, the forecast took us by surprise.
